Return of the prodigal son

Rumour has it that Meyer Bosman won’t be the only former Cheetah centre in Sharks colours when the two sides clash in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

While much of the attention in the lead-up to the weekend’s clash will doubtless focus on whether former Sharks man Andries Strauss is passed fit to face his old team mates, but Sharksworld has it on good authority that former Cheetahs, Clermont, WP and Boland man Marius Joubert will also make his return to the field of play this weekend. Joubert was dropped from the Sharks match 22 a;together a few weeks back, with coach John Plumtree citing a lack of conditioning after his time in France.

Saturday’s game should give us – and Plumtree – the opportunity to see if a few weeks under the watchful gaze of conditioning coach Mark Steele have had the desired impact on Joubert’s speed, strength and explosiveness.

It’s not yet certain what will become of last week’s man-of-the-match, Stefan Terblanche, with Joubert taking over the number 13 jersey. The old timer will possibly move to fullback, or will play off the bench against the Cheetahs.

The Sharks team line up will be confirmed later in the week.

  • Ok then 😕

  • Last time we predicted a start for someone (Adi) we got it horribly wrong. Lets hope we have it wrong again.

Maybe Adi will finally start this week.

  • @Tintin (Comment 2) : He’s too young to be considered by Streauli yet.

  • You guys might not like it, but the Sharks need an in form Joubert type centre badly.

If Joubert can make an impression he’s the exact kind of in your face hard running centre the Sharks could use in the 13 jersey. Adi Jacobs is an elusive type playmaker but more useful on the bench IMO. Can’t see him being the starter any time soon.

  • Regarding Adi, has anyoen tholught that maybe he doesnt have the legs to last 80 or even 60min anymore and thats why he is used off the bench to create the biggest impact in the shortest time?
Meyer Bosman has been good lately doing what he was bought for- to act as a good distributor in the no.12 channel. Now we just need guys running off him and Michalak. So hopefully Joubert and Sithole will do that. Lwazi needs to up his game big time. But as they say your 2nd year at the top is the hardest!

  • @SheldonK (Comment 8) :

Nobody quite knows what is up with Adi.. Last time I asked Plum and he said Adi is in good nick, but he never picks him.

As for Meyer, I agree, he has been doing the distributir thing, just a shame nobody is running lines with him.

As for Lwazi, work rate has always been an issue for him..

  • @SheldonK (Comment 8) :

Bosman probably a tad under-appreciated. 12 probably one of the hardest positions on the field and there aren’t many good ones around.

Mvovo is another Henno Mentz. Scored a few tries, but no real class about him. Reckon he’ll be on a slide now because the weaker parts of his game will go under the spotlight.

I know. But I’m saying they could use him ‘in form’. If he comes through the game well, then the Sharks would do well to let him play a few games in a row at 13. He’s the right sort of player for that Sharks centre jersey.
