Sharks centre Marius Joubert’s return to the side may have proved short-lived, with the veteran having sustained a neck injury against the Cheetahs that has him in doubt for Friday’s game against Griquas.
Sharks team doctor Ewoudt van der Linde confirmed on Saturday evening that there was some concern over the knock suffered by Joubert an hour into the game and that he would need to go for scans to rule out anything serious. While nothing further has been said, it would make sense to pencil his name into the doubtful column ahead of tomorrow’s team announcement.
Another player who may not feature – for an altogether different reason – is flyhalf Fred Michalak, who made an unexplained and rather hurried trip back to France on Saturday night. Michalak only returned from his Paris mini-break this morning and with the Sharks having a short turnaround time in-between games this week, it’s not yet clear whether the French ace will be included in the side after missing out on a practice session or two.
Expect Stefan Terblanche to return to the centres should Joubert be ruled out, while either of Jacques-Louis Potgieter or Meyer Bosman could take over the flyhalf duties from Michalak if required.

Is Skeate still out?
@war1 (Comment 1) : I think so
@robdylan (Comment 2) : Ok, hopefully back next week then. As far as I know McLeod will be ready this weekend. Has Ross gone over to the club champs?
@war1 (Comment 3) : no. Ross is still with the Sharks
Don’t know how I feel about this 😈 I want him to be his best again, but I want a great centre to start as well, right now he’s not that centre, and without gametime he’ll never be.
Fred Michalak and Christian Stewart were the instudio guests of Supersport for the France vs Canada game on Sunday. Seems as if Fred went to Joburg and not France on Saturday night, maybe he went on from there.
Maybe he was meeting with John Mitchell. 😯
Joubert out gives a chance for Ludick to be tried at 13, i know it will never happen but maybe just maybe! Bosman at 10 with Jacobs at 12. One can dream… but in reality Plum will play Michalak if he comes straight from the airport to the ground, Bosman will play with Terblanche at centre and Ludick will be a fullback with Jacobs and Cronje/Hoffman on the bench in a 5-2 split.
@Salmonoid (Comment 6) : he must have gone to Paris straight afterwards then. He was definitely there.
@robdylan (Comment 8) : JET SETTER !!! 😈 😆 😈
Adi will never start…dream on beloveds 😆
@robdylan (Comment 8) : Ja, Paris in die Freestates is only bout an hour and a halfs drive from Jozi! 😆
Stefan back to 13 then! 👿
@Ben (Comment 12) : YES!!!! 😈
@Ice Ice Bokkie (Comment 13) : 🙄
this is not a loss for the Sharks, this dude is past it… “i’m a thinking player now” don’t think, just play rugby marius 😎
don’t be surprised if they bring back bobo
@jovner (Comment 16) : 😀 😈
@Megatron (Comment 15) :
😈
We love our elderly centres at the Sharks – this one has another 10 years in him. 🙄
@Big Fish (Comment 18) : i heard jaco pretorius is on the market, he would be perfect replacement for oupa terblanche.
@Megatron (Comment 19) : I heard Dick Muir wants to play again after the World Cup 😆
@Big Fish (Comment 18) : @Megatron (Comment 19) : Guys, guys, please stop now before Clayton floats Frikkie Walsh as a possible Sharks centre candidate; you never know if Plum reads this blog…
@Culling Song (Comment 21) : I’m convinced that Plum reads this blog everyday. He keeps Adi on the bench just to piss most of us off! 😆
Why do we ( The Sharks )always buy the “oldest” players on the market? Look at the talent that the Bulls signed in the last few months , maybe that is why they are always so succesful, except this year?
@Ben (Comment 22) :
Le Frog is messsing wizz me fantasy league …..
@Zibbie (Comment 25) : And you need all the help you can get 😆
@Greg (Comment 26) :
Congratulations on another top round !!!! somebody stop Greg !!!! 😛
