In our ongoing series of articles aiming to bring you up-to-the-minute updates on the injury worries in the Western Province camp ahead of Saturday’s clsh with the Sharks, let’s see what fresh news Tuesday has in store.
The medical team seems to have confirmed that Nick Koster is very unlikely to play in Durban, having suffered a soft tissue injury to the neck. A second loose forward, Tertius Daniller, is also in doubt as the result of an abscess, while it’s the third potential casualty that may have Sharks fans breathing a sigh of relief. Star centre Johann Sadie has a haematoma on his thigh which may just force him out as well.
There’s some better news, with one of the “forgotten men” of WP rugby, prop JC Kritzinger, apparently fit to play after what seems like 19 years on the sidelines. With a frankly horrendous front-row injury list has seen Wicus Blaauw and Steven Kitshoff already ruled out for the season, Kritzinger’s return must seem like manna from Heaven. Ditto that of loose forward Pieter Louw, who looks set to add some experience to a very green-looking back row, missing the likes of Schalk Burger and Duane Vermeulen, in addition to Koster.
The flyhalf cupboard appears to be filling up again as well, with Isma-eel Dollie and Kurt Coleman also fit enough to challenge Lionel Cronje for the number 10 jersey this week.

Eish! You’ve got to feel for these guys.
Pieter Louw is back – things could get ugly real quick!
The boon would be if Sadie is injured. Not keen to see him running at our balies in midfield.

Pieter Louw a….
If I say it enough will it come true?
@hendrikp (Comment 3) : I’m afraid there’s no chance it will come true.
Without Koster and Daniller, there’s nobody else to play 8.
@robdylan (Comment 4) :
Kolisi. He’s made to play nr.8 IMO.
@hendrikp (Comment 5) : he’s made to be flattened by Deysel. IMO 🙂
@hendrikp (Comment 3) : Not happening boet, its going. Its going to be 6Carr 7Kolisi 8Louw
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 7) : Licks lips… a very talented pair of flankers, but also very young. Tell Kolisi not to run at Deysel. That will make being mugged seem rather pleasant by comparison 🙂
@robdylan (Comment 8) :
Poor louw, plays threequarters of a game and goes into rehab for 7 games.
@JarsonX (Comment 1) : I’ll feel for them after our match 😉
@KSA Shark © (Comment 11) : ja, me too… and support them wholeheartedly against the Lions 🙂
@robdylan (Comment 12) : Precisely!!!
@robdylan (Comment 8) : Jean Deysel is soft 😈
