Bulls lose Wors to freak accident

Blue Bulls prop Dean Mac Guyver “Wors” Greyling, whose many names are probably warranted given his sheer size, has apparently ruled himself out of contention for this evening’s clash against the Pumas through injudicious use of a kitchen utensil.

It sounds like the big prop managed to cut himself, presumably while carving off a massive hunk of biltong, rather than in response to reading the latest Twilight novel. Whatever the case, he’ll play no part this evening, with “World’s Luckiest Bok” Werner Kruger shifting to loosehead and Rossouw de Klerk (maybe he should borrow one of Greyling’s first names, since he seems to have none!) coming into the number 3 jersey.

Frik Kirsten comes into the 22 as the bench prop.

Revised Blue Bulls:

15 Zane Kirchner, 14 Bjorn Basson, 13 Wynand Olivier, 12 Francois Venter, 11 Gerhard van den Heever, 10 Louis Fouche, 9 Jano Vermaak, 8 CJ Stander, 7 Jacques Potgieter, 6 Warwick Tecklenburg, 5 Juandre Kruger, 4 Flip van der Merwe, 3 Rossouw de Klerk, 2 Gary Botha (captain), 1 Werner Kruger

Substitutes: 16 Willie Wepener, 17 Frik Kirsten, 18 Gerrit-Jan van Velze, 19 Arno Botha, 20 Dustin Jinka, 21 Francois Brummer, 22 Jurgen Visser

  • Damnit Rob, you gave me a BIG fright with that headline.

Anyway… hopefully Rossouw de Klerk has a big game. Would like to see ANYBODY take over from Werner Kruger.

Wasn’t Frik Kirsten highly thought of not long ago? Almost sure I can remember him being the U20 Baby Boks starting tighthead.

  • @hendrikp (Comment 1) : I don’t rate De Klerk any higher than Kruger. Chadwick has already slaughtered both of them this season and he’s only a wee baby!

  • Is there some new ruling that it is mandatory for CC Premier Division teams to field at least one player nicknamed “Wors”?

  • Yikes! That sounds like the way Andrew Mehrtens used to pick up injuries that kept him out for half the season at a time, back in his days.

  • @robdylan (Comment 10) : Sorry, slow learner in the house. My bad

However today anyone trying is going to struggle to top John Galt’s story of planning to go all the way to Kingspark, only to leave before the main attraction. 🙁

  • @robdylan (Comment 12) : I think it’s coz he’s so frustrated with the Sharks selections that he plans to leave after the u21 game and will not be watching the Sharks 😕

I think it’s one of those things you have to see to believe.
