Ndungane, Stegmann return

The Blue Bulls have named an experienced team to face Griquas in Kimberley this weekend, with Boks in Deon Stegmann and Akona Ndungane returning to the fold after time out with injury.

Stegmann, who has been on the sidelines for around a month and a half after breaking his cheek, comes in at openside flank in place of Warrick Tecklenberg, who drops to the bench. Another Bok, Dean Greyling – who was forced to withdraw at the eleventh-hour last week after cutting himself accidentally – is back at his loose head prop post, displacing Rossouw de Klerk from the match 22.

A reshuffle in the back three sees Ndungane come in at right wing, with Gerhard van den Heever shifting to fullback, where he takes over from Zane Kirchner. Kirchner was earlier this week summoned to join the Springbok World Cup squad as a replacement for the injured Francois Steyn.

Blue Bulls: Gerhard van den Heever; Akona Ndungane, Wynand Olivier, Francois Venter, Bjorn Basson; Louis Fouché, Jano Vermaak, CJ Stander, Jacques Potgieter, Deon Stegmann, Juandré Kruger, Flip van der Merwe, Werner Kruger, Gary Botha (captain), Dean Greyling.
Reserves: Willie Wepener, Frik Kirsten, Gerrit-Jan van Velze, Arno Botha, Warwick Tecklenburg, Dustin Jinka, Francois Brummer.
