Lions coach John Mitchell has named an unchanged starting lineup to face the Sharks in Saturday’s Currie Cup final… meanwhile, the host union has confirmed that Coca Cola Park has already sold out for the weekend’s game, meaning the final will be played in front of a capacity crowd of more than 70 000.
Cobus Grobbelaar is again bracketed with Jaco Kriel on the bench, while Josh Strauss has been cleared of concussion to lead the Lions team.
Golden Lions:
15 Jaco Taute, 14 Deon van Rensburg, 13 Doppies la Grange, 12 Alwyn Hollenbach, 11 Michael Killian, 10 Elton Jantjies, 9 Michael Bondesio, 8 Joshua Strauss (captain), 7 Michael Rhodes, 6 Derick Minnie, 5 Franco van der Merwe, 4 Wikus van Heerden, 3 Patric Cilliers, 2 Bandise Maku, 1 CJ Van der Linde
Substitutes: 16 Martin Bezuidenhout, 17 Jacobie Adriaanse/JC Janse van Rensburg, 18 Warren Whiteley, 19 Cobus Grobbelaar/Jaco Kriel, 20 Butch James, 21 Dylan des Fountain, 22 James Kamana

I don’t know how much truth there is in the capacity crowd thing…I bought my tickets about an hour ago.
I did buy them from Kings Park though, so maybe they feel those tickets are already sold.
I CAN”T WAIT FOR THIS GAME! My first FULL strength Sharks game LIVE! And it’s the FINAL!
Also not a bad squad from the Lions but, almost identical to the team to got a “50 KLAP”
It’s an auspicious day for the Hawera Cup it has to be said. π
They can fit 70k into the Coke Tin these days? π
@klempie (Comment 5) : 59000 plus the extra stands and suites..gonna be a cracker n i got hot seats on the half way line..east lower..3 rows from the front…boooyaaa…
@shaniboi (Comment 6) : I’m driving down to Durban on Friday. π
Make no mistake these might be the same players that played in Durban a couple weeks ago but their attitude and focus will be a lot different on Saturday!!
BIG spelling mistake there Rob, its no chance for the Lions π
@shaniboi (Comment 6) : I am also sitting in East lower!
I just hope the Shark’s psychiatrist is hard at work, other than that I’m not worried at all.

Anyone still looking for tickets can phone the above number – Sharks ticket office! Or go to the ticket office.!!
Now we just have to wait till Sunday for the Sharks to announce their team.
@Ice Ice Bokkie (Comment 12) : Are they doing a big-screen event at KP, drol?
Anyone know who the ref will be?
@JarsonX (Comment 15) : Must be Kaplan surely.
@klempie (Comment 16) : @JarsonX (Comment 15) : Mark Laurence
@klempie (Comment 14) : I dunno – those are tickets allocated to the Sharks..
@klempie (Comment 16) : Mark Lawrence
I thought Ellis Park had a 62000 seat capacity π
@klempie (Comment 14) : drol? π―
What time is kickoff? 17:30?
@Ben (Comment 21) : As far as I know its 17:00
@Franshark (Comment 20) : We have an understanding. π
@Franshark (Comment 22) : Nope.
@klempie (Comment 23) : π π
@Franshark (Comment 20) : π
@Franshark (Comment 17) : π
@Silver Fox (Comment 11) : They don’t have one π
@Ben (Comment 24) : What do you mean “nope”? π You asked he answered.
AND he answered correctly, kick-off is at 17:00 π
@KSA Shark Β© (Comment 29) : Where did you see that? Kickoff is at 17:30.
@KSA Shark Β© (Comment 29) : On Sharksrugby it says 17:30??
@Ice Ice Bokkie (Comment 31) : Same on Computicket and on the Lions website. SuperSport had it as 17:00 but then they changed it to 17:30.
@KSA Shark Β© (Comment 29) : Because I wasn’t sure and so I asked. Then I checked and saw it is 17:30 and that’s why the “nope”. π
365 still has it as 17:00, Supersport and Saru had it as 17:00 but I see now that it has changed to 17:30.
suits me perfectly as I won’t need to leave work early.
@KSA Shark Β© (Comment 34) : Suits me more than perfectly. Have to attend a wedding at 16:30! π
@Ben (Comment 33) : π
Check this out.

cheating bastards
@KSA Shark Β© (Comment 37) :
My first reaction was it missed ..checked on pvr and still thought so ..funnily all other angles are goonneee..
Weren’t any replays ..
@Ben (Comment 35) : what a wedding.. on cc- final day, wheres their priorities π
@CSB Win it for Jannie Breedt ! (Comment 38) : THAT clip is the 1st footage of the game I have seen. π
No specialst scrummie on the bench does concern me ..lose Bandiso early and we are suddenly weaker in the backline. A big disruption for a final game ..
@KSA Shark Β© (Comment 40) :
I ran thru it on pvr in 5min .. π
Truthfully this WC has left a sour taste in my mouth …
@Franshark (Comment 39) : My cousin is a Bulls fan and her husband to be is a Cheetah fan. π
@Ben (Comment 43) : Oh so they knew ages ago they weren’t going to be in the final. π
@KSA Shark Β© (Comment 37) : On the SuperSport coverage from the other side of the poles the kick definitely appears to go over. Don’t forget that video can easily be manipulated, just as pictures can.
@Letgo (Comment 2) : That’s the thing. All block bookings have to be taken into account(remember our block booking for the Bulls SupeRugby clash?) so that’s what sells out a match like this fast. The people making the block booking have a limited time to make payment on the seats, but everyone knows that block-booked seats sell, so it’s a no-brainer really. The Sharks Supporters Club here in PTA booked 2000 tickets. They’ve all been snapped up!
@CSB Win it for Jannie Breedt ! (Comment 41) : you might not be alone in that problem, though
@KSA Shark Β© (Comment 44) : Yup! π
@KSA Shark Β© (Comment 37) : It wasn’t over. What can you do?
@SharonvanWyk (Comment 46) : This game will be awesome then. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been to a full stadium. I’ve never been to a 60/70 000 plus stadium.
I’m glad I decided to drive down to JHB for the game.
@G West (Comment 3) :
Yea only shows 8 changes from that match … π
With that logic the sharks will have an identical team to the one we ran over in JHb in round one so the Lions must surely be favorites then π
L I O N S !!!
