In what is becoming something of a weekly feature, I’d like to quickly draw attention (once again) to former Sharks scrumhalf Rory Kockott’s most recent exploits in France.
After reporting last week on how the enigmatic Kockott’s contract with French side Castres was recently extended after a string of good games – most notably against champions Tolouse where he scored all 24 points in a 24-3 hammering – we’re pleased to report that he’s done exactly the same thing again a week later. In Castres’s very ext game, against Eugene van Staden’s former side Montpellier, Kockott’s boot was responsible for all of the points in Castres’s 21-16 victory.
Keep it up, Rory… at this rate, you’ll end up playing for France one day!

Go Rockett 😆
Good for him
Well done Rory, you are a quality player, keep making us proud.
Thats briliant to hear ..going overseas has given him a new lease all the best Rory.
@CSB Win it for Jannie Breedt ! (Comment 4) : seriously, would be so awesome if he could qualify to play for France
@robdylan (Comment 5) :
Given the French fascination with good kicking scrumhalfs its a possibility ..How olds the lad?
@CSB Win it for Jannie Breedt ! (Comment 6) : I was also wondering… 25 or 26?
Rocket only turned 25 in June…. crazy!
@robdylan (Comment 8) :
Wow I thought older for some reason ..He’s in with a chance ..perhaps falling for a gorgeous French girl could fasttrack eligibility.
Good for him. Maybe they will move him to 10 – they have done that a few times with their scrummies.
Reading things like this just gets my blood boiling, for some reason we just don’t hang on to good talent and then buy has-beens from all over…
Good for you Rocket, hope all your dreams come true…
@Franshark (Comment 11) : With you there.
Why did we let him go again? 👿
@Original Pierre (Comment 12) : Because Plum didn’t think he was good enough 🙄
Rocket was very poor with the Sharks in his last 2 seasons – he was rightly dropped behind Mcleod.
I’m glad that he seems to have found some form in France, but in addition to the game being slower and more tactical there, maybe he found balance there that he wouldn’t have found here.
The Sharks gave him enough chances, and dropping him at the time was the right thing to do.
Ex-Sharks player. 😆 We didn’t want him and sent him packing.
maybe his attitude is better than most of his French team mates. 😛
@Original Pierre (Comment 12) :
@JarsonX (Comment 13) :
Because his attitude sucked.
@Big Fish (Comment 14) : LIKE!
@Big Fish (Comment 14) : Too often players leave SA to go play in Europe against weaker opposition on slower pitches and suddenly they are heroes who we should never have let go. Only to return and be shown up as being nothing more than average.
Brits
Gary Botha
Are the 1st 2 that come to mind but the list is MUCH longer.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 18) :
How about:
Rob Linde
Bertus Swanepoel
and (drum roll please)
Andre Hough
😆 😈
Quick poll: Do you think Kockott has Springbok potential?
Yes/No & why?
I support a CC first division team too. Megatron may be happy to know it’s the EP Kings 😀
@vanmartin (Comment 21) : Oops, wrong thread!
@vanmartin (Comment 20) :
NO.
too pouty when not selected.
Hougaard is better by a country mile.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 18) : Hell even Ricki Januarie looked good playing for Ospreys
@Big Fish (Comment 19) : I’ll have you know that Rob Linde is renowned as the best scrummaging lock in the French league and Andre Hough tackles like Honiball.
So in 2 games they scored 8 + 7 penalties/ drops and but no trys.
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 25) :
😆 😆 😆
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 25) : The report specifically said “uncontest”
Rob Linde is renowned as the best uncontested scrummaging lock in the French league
@beet (Comment 28) : 😎
@KSA Shark © (Comment 18) : Dare I add Ruan Pienaar to that list? 😈
@SharonvanWyk (Comment 30) : Hell, at one stage I would have put Frans Steyn on that list as well, but to be honest, my opinion of him has changed somewhat since his stint with the Boks this year. I was actually sad to see him injured because he was a machine at 12. 😯
