According to an article in die Volksblad, Shark prop Beast Mtawarira underwent a minor medical procedure in Cape Town this week, but came through with flying colours and is expected to be fit for the start of the Super Rugby season.
John Plumtree mentioned in an interview a month or so back that something minor was niggling the Beast and while no further details have been made available about exactly what was wrong, Beast is already back in Durban and preparing for a nice Christmas break with his wife and daughter at Vic Falls.
If your Afrikaans is any good and you’re interested in hearing Beast’s nurse gush about how little body fat he has, or how big his forearms are, you can read the original report here.

Goon on yer, Beastie Boy! Look forward to you being at your best next season – you weren’t quite yourself this year.
Right as rain?
Rain is slippery, are you implying he’s gonna be slipping his bind all season? 😉
Die boere tannie like vi die Beast. 😆
scarping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to news… 🙂
@KSA Shark © (Comment 2) : Bru the Heineken Cup starts this weekend. I’m surprised that you have been tjoestil!
Who do you support and do you have a favourite to win?
Harlequins are looking pretty good
@beet (Comment 4) :
Saracens and Ospreys are going to be crying, with them being in the same pool and probably only one of them making the 1/4 finals. With that said I think it will be the Ospreys comfortably.
I think Munster, Leinster and Toulouse will be semi-finalists.

Glad to have you back BEAST!
@KSA Shark © (Comment 5) : The important thing is having an Italian team in your group. Thats usually max points in the bag right there and favourable homeground adv for the quarters and semis
Next time you are in Cpt for an op let us know and we will come and serenade you.
@robdylan (Comment 3) : I do commend you for sniffing out every rugby-related story possible
@Salmonoid (Comment 8) :
I would love to know what sogn you will be singing??
Liefling?? Loslappie! 😈
@wpw (Comment 10) : I’d just be happy to know what a “sogn” is. 😛
@wpw (Comment 10) : What do you mean “you will be singing”. You are included in the serenading.
What do you suggest?
Looking forward to the Beast being unleashed in next year’s
Super 15 campaign…enjoy your break with your family and go well.

No pro legote?? Jippieeeee!!!
@bergshark (Comment 15) : now just got too get a way to get rid of bryce, maybe we must get piet van zyl to tackel him into retirement
@BR (Comment 16) : I was thinking the same thing!
I hope this means he’s going to start living up to his rep as “Beast” or will he continue to play like a total moffie. 😕
@BR (Comment 14) : Lourens van der Merwe?????! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
@war1 (Comment 19) : With you on that one! Lourens is shite.
@war1 (Comment 19) : the reserve panel blows 20% of the matches so lets hope his game isn’t one of our games.
@BR (Comment 21) : I don’t think he is biased I just don’t think he is a good ref at all.
@war1 (Comment 22) : I think the word dof describes Lourens the best.
Bashford said we gave away too many penalties so they will be looking at discipline.
