Former Chiefs lock Toby Lynn has chucked in his lot in his home country and will instead turn out for the Perth-based Western Force in Super Rugby this year.

The 26-year-old second rower, who has played 32 times for the Hamilton franchise over the last few seasons, has opted to sign a two-year deal with the Force in a bid to revitalise a somewhat flagging career. The fact that his grandfather was born in Australia certainly helps, as it makes Lynn eligible for Wallaby selection, making it easier for the Force to sign him. Australian franchises (apart from the newly-formed Melbourne Rebels) operate under strict limitations in terms of the number of foreign (i.e. non-Wallaby qualified) players that they may pick in their squads.

Lynn will have to compete with veteran Wallaby Nathan Sharpe and upcoming star Sam Wykes, amongst others in the Force squad.
