Rassie drops Province

Rassie Erasmus has dropped the WPRFU in the proverbial by suddenly announcing his resignation.

The other half of the Erasmi, Rassie’s lawyer Frikkie Erasmus, yesterday confirmed the resignation indicating that “Rassie is looking at other options. There are other choices, especially overseas.”

There is some speculation that Rassie has resigned to possibly make himself available to fill the Springbok coaching position that will be filled on the 27th of January. Personally I believe the paranoia shown by Rudolph Streauli during his tenure as Springbok coach and The Erasmi’s track record of dealing with the media should be 2 deciding factors in SARU making a decision to hopefully NOT appoint Rassie and his entourage, which are sure to follow, as the Springbok coaching team.

Rassie Erasmus joined WPRFU at the end of 2007 and eventually moved on to Director of coaching for WPRFU being replaced as coach by Allister Coetzee, who it must be said has done a much better job at handling the media than the Erasmi ever did.

  • Controversial as this sounds but this guy reminds me of Hansie Cronje.

Supposedly a good guy, but coniving and scheming as hell when it comes to benefiting themselves. 🙁

  • I wonder how the Erasmi would react if a player pulled out of the Stormers squad at this stage of the season?

  • If you read Frikkie’s comment then one of two things is an option.

1)Rassie didn’t jump he was pushed. Why would you jump if you haven’t already got a safe landing in place? And why would your lawyer say you are looking at options, surely the option will have been taken up before you resign.

    2) Frikkie is throwing up a smokescreen for the new job.

One major problem i see is that where Rassie goes Nienaber goes.

  • I really dislike SARU…I will be more upset with them if neither Mallet or Rassie are involved with the Boks come 27 January 2012. In these two guys we have the best SA born rugby brains in the world. The administrators haven’t a clue…Gert Smal my foot..what will he offer? More crash balls and up and unders..bull. Even one dimensional Plum offers more than Gert Smal.

  • @Uli (Comment 36) : since when is smith a self proclaimed hero, he is probably the most humble guy in the whole team, who became a hero when he became the first south african to score a century in both innings at LORDS.(hy sal altyd opkom vir sy spelers en hy stel altyd bo homself anders as sekere oud kapteine)

I would rather take a captain that is honest and protect his players than a captain that is scheming behind my back and trying to cover it up when he is caught.
