Shortly after the Sharks withdrew from the annual Neo Africa Tri Series held at Newlands  Neo Africa themselves have withdrawn as the title sponsor of the pre-season tournament.

The Cheetahs were last week named as the team who would take the Sharks place in the warm up series but since the announcement of the sponsors withdrawal the tournament structure will change, firstly it will now be called the “DHL Pre-season series” and will no only consist of 2 fixtures.

The schedule is as follows:

  • DHL STORMERS vs MTN LIONS : Fri 27 January (19h00)
  • DHL STORMERS vs Toyota CHEETAHS: Sat 04 February (17h00)

Tickets will be available from the 18th January at WP Rugby box office , Post Net and www.ticketpros.co.za (to be collected at any Post Net outlet)

Pricing for tickets are

All seating           R40.00

Danie Craven Standing  R20.00

Scholars Enclosure           R10.00

  • Why only 2 games? Seeing as the games are played in the Cape, the trophy might as well stay there.

  • Geez now WP have sunk to new depths to ensure they get a trophy.

Only letting the opposittion play one game each IS a novel concept. 😛

  • Well in my opinion, it was a silly money-making racket anyway. I think the Capetonoans have been taking these few warm-up games waaayyyyy too seriously.

  • Why not invite the Cheetahs/Lions for a game?

I suppose that will leave us with the same problem as facing the Stormers too many times…

  • Hahahaha! No more trophy for the hoolahoops! Seriously though, this series was a load of horse manure – nobody took it serious. It only served as another opportunity to lose a player to injury.
