Well okay heβs not quite a great yet but Bulls star in the making, super junior player Jan Serfontein is once again fit and raring to go.
Written by a Bulls fan wearing his neutral cap today.
It therefore comes as very little surprise that Baby Bok coach Dawie Theron, at the drop of a hat or should I say, a drop of the Pat, has relegated Patrick Howard (non-Bulls player) to the subsititutes bench to make way for the awesomely talent young prodigy from the Bulls. The gifted Serfontein* and 14 of his under-20 teammates plus reserves will take the field against Tukkiesβ fierce rivals the Maties in Coetzenburg on Friday morning.
Serfontein* capped off a memorable 2011 schoolboy rugby season by signing a major Bulls junior contract. He also walked off with the prestigious Craven Week player of the year award that year.
Fans who attend can expect Serfontein* to inject pace, accuracy, creativity, energy and all the other wonderful superlatives that have commonly come to be associate with Bulls rugby over the years, into the Baby Bok midfield. He will no doubt provide the team with a huge Bullst, I mean boost.
The decision by Theron to play Serfontein* at inside centre may also go a long way to ending speculation about where the multi-talented and versatile Bulls junior will do duty at the Junior World Cup to be held approximately 1300km south of Loftus in a region also commonly referred to as the Western Cape from 04-22 June 2012.
The SA Under-20 team to play the Maties (note : Bulls players names in caps): 15 Marais Schmidt, 14 JJ de Klerk, 13 WILLIAM SMALL-SMITH, 12 JAN SERFONTEIN*, 11 TRAVIS ISMAEL, 10 TONY JANTJIES, 9 Kevin Luiters, 8 Fabian Booysen, 7 WIAAN LIEBENBERG, 6 Khaya Majola, 5 Ruan Botha, 4 Paul Willemse, 3 Nicolaas van Dyk, 2 Mark Pretorius, 1 Allan Dell.
Replacements: Gideon Muller, MARZUQ MAARMAN, JASON THOMAS, Franco Marais, Mihlali Mpafi, Ettiene Oosthuizen, JACQUES DU PLESSIS, Cobus Nel, SHAUN ADENDORFF, POERIE VAN ROOYEN, KK Hlungwane, Errol Jaggers, Mathys Smit, Patrick Howard, RUWELLYN ISBELL.
* Denotes Bulls contracted junior soon to be fast-tracked star player in the making

nice one, but really, Shark player names should be in CAPS. I would like to know which of these are ‘our’ boys.
Good stuff Muzi. I always liked it when you approach rugby from the point of view of a neutral, you’re able to fine-tune your objectivity.
Great to hear that Serfontein is 100s again.
@Jeremiser (Comment 1) : Ha ha… of course. Muzi’s just poking a bit of fun at the way I like to do junior team announcements, which is to sing the praises of the Shark players to the exclusion of all else.
But come on, dude… surely if you read Sharkwsworld often you should KNOW which of these are ours? π
Great stuff Muzi.. Am I wrong in saying this is your first post? If so, welcome on board, looking forward to more articles from you.
But really, you should write it from a Bulls perspective, we have enough unbiased writers here!
“…to inject pace, …creativity, energy and all the other wonderful superlatives that have commonly come to be associate with Bulls rugby over the years…”
Glad to see you brought your A-game with regards to humour to the article!
so the Sharks players are, of course
Allan Dell (future Bok captain)
Nicolaas van Dyk
Khaya Majola
Franco Marais
@robdylan (Comment 6) :
I was going to put them in Bold, but I didn’t want to upset our latest contributor..
@robdylan (Comment 6) : Thanks ! I must admit I don’t know them off hand and have been googling the team lineup.
Great post Muzi. It seemed a trifle ‘blue’, but an enjoyable read π
@Jeremiser (Comment 8) : let me know if you need more info on any of them
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 7) : @robdylan (Comment 6) : Morning guys I’m learning its my first one hope it was good read

Oh yea will also keep you guys updated with wynand pienaar and his sharks buddies at Tukkies.
@StevieS (Comment 9) : Thanks bro you know me when it comes to bulls junior players i gloat like crazy
its a habit that will eventually die…i hope. π
@Culling Song (Comment 5) : You have not seen anything just yet “FRANCOIS VENTER” π is next on my hitlist.
@Muzi (Comment 11) :
Awesome stuff Muzi!
Looking forward to seeing more from you. We are going to try do a lot more work on the SBR scene, so your input will be appreciated..
‘neutral cap’ π
@JarsonX (Comment 15) :
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 14) : No problemo sir i will try my best not to bombard you guys with SBR Bulls Junior Players :smile:. thats just how i am.
With Heyneke Meyer set to be named as bok coach the first damn thing that came into my mind was “MAAK DIE BULLE ALMAL BOKKE”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! π
Please excuse the caps lock fury
@beet (Comment 2) : I’m learning from the best sir…..next time i promise you Muzi will attend those junior bulls matches at loftus no excuses this time.
Will not let you down like last year. π
It’s a new year i hope 2012 is the Bulls year
i mean a good year.
@Muzi (Comment 17) :
We have beet the local expert, and there is more than enough place for muzi the Bulls expert.
We need to know what is going on all over the country!
@Muzi (Comment 12) : Gloat, Muzi, gloat – enjoyed the article, keep up the good work. BULLE! π
@diablo (Comment 20) : βMAAK DIE BULLE ALMAL BOKKEβ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks man i will post the above on twitter.
Watch this space! π
Shaun Adendorff on the bench is a SHARKS player from Glenwood poached by the bulls!
Fun article.
And very interesting to note that Muzi can actually spell and use punctuation. π―
@Big Fish (Comment 23) : I blame UJ,The Drinks,The braai and chicks
Oh yea and the ever popular cartoon drama The Boondocks. π
@Grasshopper (Comment 22) : No we do not poach we attract talented players π you can go and add Pieter Oosthuizen,Dean Moolman,Ferdi Horn to the list….have you had enough so far i can help you with other players. π
This article fills me with a lot of hope! Muzi, how soon until Meisiekind is dethroned and ruled out of Bok contention ever again?
@vanmartin (Comment 26) : As we speak young Venter will start with Sadie at loftus. π
Olivier has been a great servant for bulls rugby BUT when one watches Serfontein and Jordaan you tend to get the feeling the poor guy is done he has no bok future.
If frans ludeke wants to see the bulls backline tick then olivier needs to make space for serfontein and sadie.
He can sit on the bench. π
@Muzi (Comment 27) : Two thumbs up! π
@Muzi (Comment 27) : Surely the Bulls’ vice-captain will be back in the team when he returns from injury. Are you gonna be at Loftus for the opening games Muzi?
@war1 (Comment 29) : Its been so long since he’s been there, he’ll need GPS to find the place
@Muzi (Comment 11) : well done mate, good read…
Well done Muzi didn’t understand any of it but apparently it was a good read! π
Nice arti! π
@beet (Comment 30) : Maybe he’ll go back to the Coke tin now β
@war1 (Comment 29) : I’m thinking about going…
Anybody els?
@Franshark (Comment 34) : I will almost certainly be there. Maybe we could organise another get together if there are enough people going.
@beet (Comment 30) : Relax i will not get lost if i do π shezza will help me
@war1 (Comment 35) : there is the concern that it is on a works day, but we should spread the word an see?
@Franshark (Comment 37) : I think so. I will get in contact with Ice, she organises our social stuff.
@war1 (Comment 38) : oops, actually did have a chat with her, but in numbers we can persuade her… So do that π
@Muzi (Comment 11) : Hey Muzi – trust me, the midfield conundrum is far from sorted. I understand you are partisan but ‘relegated’ and ‘dropped’ – come on now. SAU20 is still in the forgery. Hugely talented starting midfield possibles in Small-Smith, Howard, Serfontein, Van Wyk (absent). Depends on the game plan, opposition etc. Each brings something special. Were you at the game? Howard played a full 30 – great try linking initially with WSS then coming off a good angled run to pick up a second phase offload from the wing (deKlerk) to score under the posts. Howard pips Serfontein in the physicality IMO and will inevitably break the gain line. Don’t discount JS as a potent wing option covering centre. PH and JS were always each going to get a start in the Ikeys and Maties clashes – JS was not injured for the Ikeys clash and played a half as well – simply Dawie and Brendan trying out combos. Look out for the Maties U20 side this year – should be special π
