We would like to welcome back Marshalls World of Sport, Sharksworld’s betting website of choice, to a new season of Super Rugby action, where we hope each and every punter will have a good season. They are also running a few competitions where you can win some unbelievable prizes, so check out the bottom of the article for further details.

The following odds are available on the Marshalls website, so go over, open an account, which is really simple and easy to set up, deposit some cash in there and away you go. No need to go sit in some crummy joint, you can do all your punting from the comfort of your couch.

The opening game of the season, and also the game I am most looking forward to this weekend, is the Blues hosting the Crusaders in Auckland. These two teams should be battling it out for top spot in the New Zealand conference, and a win here would give the team a good start.

Blues – 7/10
Crusaders – 13/10

The Australian conference will be opened by the Brumbies taking on the Force, a game which would make many people shrug and ask – Who cares, but it is games like these where there is an opportunity to make some easy money. In this case, I think the Brumbies would be too strong for a Force outfit void of any really stars.

Brumbies – 6/10
Force – 15/10

Friday night sees one of two really close South African derbies taking place, with the Sharks travelling to Loftus to take on the Bulls. These games are generally tight affairs, with the Sharks having a decent record at Loftus in the recent past, so do not put it past the men from Durban to pull off another victory here.

Bulls – 7/10
Sharks – 13/10

The Chiefs host the Highlanders early on Saturday morning, and this should be an easy match for the Chiefs to take, with an amazing backline for the Chiefs being too powerful for the Highlanders.

Chiefs – 5/10
Highlanders – 2/1

The top two Aussie teams tackle each other on opening weekend, with the Reds starting their title defence against tough opposition. It will be a close affair, with the winning team carrying much needed momentum into the following rounds.

Waratahs – 6/10
Reds – 14/10

The easiest game of the weekend to call will be the Stormers hosting the Hurricanes, which interestingly is the only non-derby match of the weekend.

Stormers – 2/10
Hurricanes – 4/1

The weekend of rugby closes in Johannesburg, where an ultimate catfight will see the Lions host the Cheetahs in a match touted by many as the loser-will-be-wooden-spoonist-in-the-South-African-conference game.

Lions – 5/10
Cheetahs – 17/10

A couple of close games to look forward to this weekend, and if you are confident in more than just one game and would like to stretch your odds even further, don’t be scared to take on a double or a treble. You will be surprised at the good odds on offer once you select more than one game.

We also have Six Nations matches this weekend:

Ireland – 1/10
Italy – 8/1

England – 13/10
Wales – 7/10

Scotland – 22/10
France – 4/10

The odds mentioned above are correct at time of publishing the article, and might change closer to kick off.

  • OK I’ve never done this.

So who’s the favourite in the Sharks/Bulls game according to the bookies? 😳

  • @Pokkel (Comment 2) :

The Bulls are favoured. And this is why:

    7/10 = 70% return
    13/10 = 130% return

The less the return, the less risky. Thus the Bulls are favoured.

  • I always make side bets on games (my dad still owes me 6 beers from the Fiji Samoa WC game), but no matter how I try, with a distinction in mathematics and all, I cannot seem to get to full grips at what these numbers mean and how they work. I can tell who is favourite, most of the times, and can guess the difference between the two fairly accurately, but that’s as far as it goes
