Good luck Sharks – make it happen!

Man, we’ve been talking about this for bloody ages and finally, at long last, after what seems like a virtually infinite wait, SOMETHING IS ACTUALLY ABOUT TO HAPPEN! That’s it, guys… rugby is BACK. Super Rugby is BACK and most importantly from our point of view, Sharks rugby is BACK!

You can view the above statement in two ways, of course – not only at the Sharks going to be in action tonight, but the signs are (hopefully) there that they will revert to a slightly more adventurous style of play reminiscent of what we’ve seen from the great black and white teams of the past. That, my friends, is a mouth-watering prospect indeed.

So, to all the Sharks, we’d like to say “welcome back to the battlefield, gents – go out there and give it your best shot!” Know that your many millions of adoring fans are right there with you every step of the way – hell, we’d carry you onto the field if we were allowed to and carry you back off it once the job has been done, right back to the car park where the beers and the braai would definitely be on us! It’s going to be a long campaign, but we’ll stick by you guys through thick and thin, because you’re OUR TEAM and that’s just what we do.

A special shout out to Icey, Oom Dries and all the rest of the intrepid Sharksworlders heading off to Loftus tonight. Hold our name high, guys – have lots of fun and enjoy the game, but remember you’re behind enemy lines, so go easy on the grog and let’s try to avoid any “Coenie Oosthuizen moments” later in the evening!

Welcome to the 2012 season, everyone. I hereby christen it “Year of the Sharks”.

  • At last Rob, I can sleep normal again…

  • Hope I`m wrong here but I`m a bit worried about tonight.

Bulls looked the best of the sides involved in the warm up games. Okay to be fair I never saw the sharks play, but the Bulls demolished the Cheetahs and we only faced Boland and the queens.

Yes the bulls have lost a lot of key players, but they will still target our Lineouts and take Michalak on around the scrum.

We`re missing some seriously key personnel as well.

It`s gonna be a close one!

  • May be that my eyes are playing tricks on me, but this is the Sharks squad according to the SANZAR website:

    Riaan Viljoen Flyhalf / Fullback 1.84m 97kg 01.04.83
    Tim Whitehead Centre 1.88m 95kg 30.05.88

Strange that this list contains no Chadwick, yet does Whitehead and Joubert, whilst including the recenetly departed Eugene.

I thought each franchise had to submit their squads to SANZAR in the last week before Superugby starts. ❓

Edit: Oops, this was supposed to be in the Sharks preview thread/ thingy…
