New Bulls recruit, utility back Lionel Cronje, has picked up a pectoral muscle tear in his chest and will be out for the rest of the Super Rugby competition.

Cronje picked up the injury playing for the Bulls Vodacom Cup team against the Sharks XV, and will be out of action for at least six months following his operation later this week.

Cronje suffered a season ending injury while at the Stormers last year, with a knee ligament injury, and added to the woes of the then flyhalf crises at the Stormers.

Going to be a tough year for every team, possibly the length of last season shares a portion of the blame? (However I acknowledge that Cronje didn’t get a lot of gametime last year, so doesn’t really apply to this cae)

  • @LordHope (Comment 1) :

It seems to be the only thing I ever write about these days, players undergoing surgery and out for the rest of the season..

Its pretty scary, doctors all over the world must be smiling..

  • @LordHope,he got injured last year during the Stormers match against Blues, think it was in May and that was it for the season, now once again the same has happened against the Sharks XV. One can only imagine how he’s feeling, but ey hope he hangs in there,it takes more than this to get a Queenian down
