Welkom will get to host a Super Rugby match this year, following a decision that the Cheetahs will host the Lions there in April 7.

The last match held at this ground was in 2010, when the Cheetahs beat the Lions by a record 59 – 10, which was attended by 10,000 fans.

The plan is for people to plan their Easter weekends around this game, with tickets going on sale from next Monday. Be warned though, seats are limited to only 7,000, so should you be in the area, make sure you get your hands on a ticket soon.

It was wet and I was trying to do updates for SW on my phone. Not the easiest thing to do. Marcell Coetzee scored 4 tries that night.

  • Well my argument is that, since we have so many local games ( 1x vs local teams in super 15 and 1 x vs local teams currie cup) @ one stadium, why not spread them to other parts of the regions? Would do wonders for development.
