Western Province centre Juan de Jongh has committed his future to side, by signing a three-year contract extension.
The young Springbok, who turns 24 on Thursday, has opted to stay with the Cape side – and by extension the Stormers franchise – until the end of 2015. His current deal expires at the end of this season, but he clearly has no plans to go elsewhere.
The recent decision by Jaque Fourie to turn his back on WP must have played a big part in de Jongh’s decision, as he is now very firmly established as first-choice outside centre and can continue to build a strong case for Bok inclusion on that platform.

side note . Stormers team announced : http://www.supersport.com/rugby/super-rugby/news/120313/Grant_returns_to_No_10
Very good for the Stormers. This guy is a brilliant 13 imo.
@Ben (Comment 2) : he’s almost as good as JP 🙂
@robdylan (Comment 3) : Yup. You get average, good, brilliant and then JP. 😆
Where is Adi by the way? Has he signed for a team yet?
They can keep de Jongh…we have Whitehead, JPP and a rejuvenated Bosman!
@Zibbie (Comment 1) :
Could I please ask that you don’t post links to other websites in the comments..
We try our utmost best to write original content, so it might take a few minutes longer to get it on Sharksworld.
If you would like to see the article, mail me or Rob and we will get the story up.
@Ben (Comment 5) : not that I know of… funny, I was also just thinking about him
@Zibbie (Comment 1) : what Richard said!
@robdylan (Comment 8) : Retired maybe? Or do you think he will play again?
I’m probably in the minority here in my view that De Jongh is an over-rated, one-trick pony…
@Culling Song (Comment 11) : Thing is he’s got a great step with some decent pace. If he gets just enough space and he doesn’t need much he will step you and make you look really silly. He’s still rusty, will be back to his best soon I think.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 7) : @robdylan (Comment 9) :
sorry . Will do that in future .
@Culling Song (Comment 11) : Seconded but in saying that, I really hope he proves me wrong. As Ben mentioned – he’s got pace and that’s not a terrible thing.
@Culling Song (Comment 11) :
Not completely alone. He is good, but not international quality good yet, IMO. Just has the inside step as an attacking threat.
