The Cheetahs take on the Melbourne Rebels on Sunday morning, taking heart from their narrow loss to the Brumbies last weekend, and should be able to give the Rebels a good push and I would not be surprised to see them victorius.

Andries Strauss has been selected straight back in the starting lineup, playing inside the talented Rob Ebersohn in the centres. Davon Raubenheimer has displaced Ashley Johnson, with the big eighthman falling to the bench once again in what seems to be a rotational policy set up by Naka Drotske.

Philip van der Walt shifts to the back of the scrum to make space for Raubenheimer to play in his preferred flank jersey.

Cheetahs: Hennie Daniller; Cameron Jacobs, Robert Ebersohn, Andries Strauss, Willie le Roux, Johan Goosen, Tewis de Bruyn, Philip van der Walt, Davon Raubenheimer, Heinrich Brussow, Izak van der Westhuizen, George Earle, WP Nel, Adriaan Strauss (Capt), Coenie Oosthuizen.

Reserves: Hercu Liebenberg, Trevor Nyakane, Justin Downey, Ashley Johnson, Piet van Zyl, Sias Ebersohn, Ryno Benjamin.

  • Thought Raubenheimer preferred the 8 jersey? Will see what they run out in on Sunday.

While Johnson needs to protect the ball better, I struggle to understand how he’s not starting above either Raubenheimer or van der Walt on a regular basis. Plenty of time off the bench yes, but surely you’d want to have him starting.

I thought Johnson looked really good against the Brumbies..

I dont rate van der Walt, so why not start with both him and Raubenheimer?

I thought Raubenheimer was only ever a flank at Griquas?
