There’s contrasting injury news for the two Gauteng-based teams in Super Rugby today, as they look to name their line-ups ahead of key matches this weekend.
Sport24 reveals that former Sharks prop Pat Cilliers – and how we’d love to have him in Sydney this week! – has recovered from the Stomach bug that saw him withdrawn from the Lions team that faced his former side 10 days back. With the Lions forced to field somewhat of a makeshift front row against the Sharks after losing Cj van der Linde and JC van Rensburg as well, the return of Cilliers to their pack will add some stability; not that young replacements Caylib Oosthuyzen and Ruan Dreyer didn’t make their presence felt on debut, mind. At the risk of sounding like a stuck record, the Sharks would probably give their eye teeth to have either youngster with them in Sydney right now, given that the front-row injury hoodo has struck there in no uncertain terms.
Meanwhile, Brenden Nel from SuperSport has reported that the Bulls will be without first-choice open-sider Deon Steggmann for another week. The Bok 6 picked up a hamstring injury last week, which saw him withdrawn prior to the Blues clash with disastrous consequences. According to Nel, he will not be considered for this weekend’s clash against the Reds.
The Bulls and Lions are expected to announce their teams on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

Wouldn’t mind if caylib was at the sharks great prop in the making, and he is not a vuilgat like the other Oosthuyzen who scrums in on the angle more times than not and the cheethas are complaining about the ref.
@BR (Comment 1) :
you guys have young props as well. Focus on developing them . caylib played just about his first senior game for the Lions .
@Zibbie (Comment 2) : Didn’t say we should get the chequebook out, just said he is a great prospect and wouldn’t have minded if he were a shark, sjoe maar die Leeus is gevoelig oor hulle belowende jong spelers.
@BR (Comment 3) :
