The Crusaders host the Cheetahs in the second game this Super Saturday, hoping to come back from their bye weekend and stamping their authority on this competition. This game is the first at the new home ground of the Crusaders in Christchurch.

The Crusaders have not looked the team we are accustomed to seeing so far this year, and will welcome back Dan Carter, who has been missing from their lineup so far this season. He will make an appearance from the bench, while Tom Taylor gets his first start.

The Cheetahs come off a last minute win over the Rebels last weekend, as well as a close game the weekend before against the Brumbies, and will take much confidence into this clash. They have nothing to lose from this clash, and will surely give the home team a tough encounter.

Crusaders: 15. Israel Dagg, 14. Sean Maitland, 13. Robert Fruean, 12. Ryan Crotty, 11. Zac Guildford, 10. Tom Taylor, 9. Andy Ellis, 8. Kieran Read (Captain), 7. Matt Todd, 6. Luke Whitelock, 5. Sam Whitelock, 4. Luke Romano, 3. Owen Franks, 2. Corey Flynn, 1. Ben Franks

Replacements: 16. Quentin MacDonald, 17. Wyatt Crockett, 18. Ross Kennedy, 19. Brendon O’Connor, 20. Willi Heinz, 21. Dan Carter, 22. Tom Marshall

Cheetahs: 15. Hennie Daniller, 14. Cameron Jacobs, 13. Robert Ebersohn, 12. Andries Strauss, 11. Willie Le Roux, 10. Johan Goosen, 9. Tewis de Bruyn, 8. Philip Van der Walt, 7. Justin Downey, 6. Heinrich Brussow, 5. Izak van der Westhuizen, 4. George Earle, 3. Lourens Adriaanse, 2. Adriaan Strauss (Captain), 1. Trevor Nyakane

Replacements: 16. Hercu Liebenberg, 17. Coenie Oosthuizen, 18. Andries Ferreira, 19. Ashley Johnson, 20. Piet van Zyl, 21. Sias Ebersohn, 22. Rayno Benjamin

  • Crusaders with 5min scrum on the Cheetahs line and Crusaders get over the line, but help up for the second time in as many minutes. Great defense Cheetahs!.

  • WTF Goosen!! Cheetahs turn the ball over with time out on the clock and a great opportunity for the counter attack and Goosen boots it into touch for the bonus point loss. 😕

  • @Ben (Comment 34) : He had a very good game. Looked for work all over the park and broke the line on numerous occasions.

  • @rhineshark (Comment 35) :

Yah not that poor a decision, a draw was the only outcome they could hope for, and that was pending a conversion possibly from the touchline. Plus the Cheetahs were out on their feet and attacking from deep within their own half would leave them vulnerable to Crusaders attack and potential score or penalty leaving them outwith the 7.

  • @Ben (Comment 38) : I would like to see him at 13. He´s quick, draws the defense, has a good eye for a gap and can distribute well.

That´s where he popped up often in the game.
