No changes for Bulls’ starters

Bulls coach Frans Ludeke has kept faith wit the exact starting XV that demolished the Reds last week, in naming his team to face the Stormers in Cape Town.

It was hoped that Deon Stegmann would recover in time to take his place at open-side flank; however, he was ruled out earlier in the week, meaning a third successive start for CJ Stander. Arno Botha, the former Baby Bok captain, continues to deputise on the bench.

The only change to the match 22 comes at replacement hooker, where the uncapped Bongi Mbonambi replaces Willie Wepener; the latter is out due to a facial injury.

Bulls: 15 Zane Kirchner, 14 Akona Ndungane, 13 Johann Sadie, 12 Wynand Olivier, 11 Bjorn Basson, 10 MornΓ© Steyn, 9 Francois Hougaard, 8 Pierre Spies (captain), 7 Jacques Potgieter, 6 CJ Stander, 5 JuandrΓ© Kruger, 4 Flip van der Merwe, 3 Werner Kruger, 2 Chiliboy Ralepelle, 1 Dean Greyling.
Replacements: 16 Bongi Mbonambi, 17 Frik Kirsten, 18 Wilhelm Steenkamp, 19 Arno Botha, 20 Jano Vermaak, 21 Louis FouchΓ©, 22 JJ Engelbrecht.

  • Like Werner de Beer says the Pink Bulls will arrive violently at newlands on saturday. πŸ˜†

Good team so far so good i’ve been impressed with the bulls we are playing well.

We simply have to stand up to the heavy stormers pack,it’s about attitude, desire and team work that will win us this match.

Pierre is getting better and better he needs a big one this weekend.
The forwards need to win the collision points and be accurate in line outs and scrums then the rest will take care of itself.

We are improving as a team but complacency is our biggest enemy so far.

    Go Pink Bulls!!!!

  • @Muzi (Comment 1) : Spies’ form is a real positive, you can see he’s growing into the captaincy role and the team is following, this can only be good for Blue Bulls rugby. A win this weekend would a real morale booster

  • @Ludz (Comment 4) : I need you to give me your email or bbm code so that i can give you a list of the players xander has signed. πŸ˜‰ Forget Josh and JP werner and xander are damn brilliant at what they do hehe.

These names are not yet confirmed but you need to keep this confidential bro.

I do not want parents and schools giving me a call about spreading rumours. πŸ˜‰

  • @robdylan (Comment 9) : The Easter Rugby Festivals start soon so all will be revealed next week.

I have good news maybe this will give you some hope the bulls did not sign Pieter Jordaan from Grey College at 10.

It looks like he will join Paul at the sharks academy.

  • @Muzi (Comment 10) : I do hope so… I’ve been trying to get some info about that for years now, but Paul has been stonewalling me.

  • @robdylan (Comment 11) : My guess is Jordaan wanted to join dries and jan BUT the bulls have already signed Stander and another great talent at 10. πŸ˜‰

Young Jordaan is keeping his options open but a move to kzn looks like a possibility.

  • @Muzi (Comment 10) : all teams are in a position where they’ll probably get a superb schoolboy flyhalf except the Cheetahs,Bulls will get Josh Stander,Sharks will get Pieter Jordaan,Lions will retain Jaco van der Walt,WP will retain Handre Pollard, who’s gonna be KZN flyhalf at CW this year (where’s beet when you need him),my safe bet for the Bulls is that it will be Ryno Eksteen of Affies who was the 10 at the u16 Grant Khomo two weeks ago. Please note all speculation at this point, nothing certain

  • @Ludz (Comment 15) : That grant khomo flyhalf you saw last year for the limpopo bulls is with waterkloof now he can jol.

Did i tell you that Stoney Steenkamp has join Roleof Smit at the bulls πŸ˜‰ .Also burger Odendaal from monnas is a bulls player.

  • Comment 16, posted at 28.03.12 17:45:49 by Muzi Reply

  • @Ludz (Comment 15) :

At this stage possibly DHS flyhalf called Le Roux Van Zyl, was Grant Khomo flyhalf last year or if the Glenwood flyhalf is still u 18 – that is Warren Potgieter.

  • Comment 17, posted at 28.03.12 17:53:54 by Pat Reply

  • @Pat (Comment 17) : Sorry mate i do not rate warren potgieter that much even the bulls did not even look at him he simply can just skop and jaag,.He needs to improve his all round game if he wants to make sa schools just saying.

  • Comment 18, posted at 28.03.12 17:57:30 by Muzi Reply

  • @Muzi (Comment 18) :

Not saying i rate him, cant say ive ever seen him play but would imagine he would be in the mix, since surely his move to KZN was something to do with the Sharks. He maybe U19 to be honest.

On another note, you see Brummer is with Griquas now.

  • Comment 19, posted at 28.03.12 17:59:27 by Pat Reply

  • @Pat (Comment 19) : Yes Brummer has been signed as cover for the injured boshoff. The move will do good for his rugby career.Sad he did not make it at the bulls.

  • Comment 20, posted at 28.03.12 18:07:10 by Muzi Reply

  • @Pat (Comment 19) : If Paul Willemse wants to be a bok then he needs to learn how to jump in the line outs.

Lerm is still making the line out calls for the lions vodacom cup side.

The lions vodacom cup team is young but badly coached at loftus they played like a bunch of schoolboy individualls no team work at all.

Garth April needs to learn how to tackle Tony made him look bad.

Lions will need to review their recruiting structures too many average players who are simply not good enough!

I’d be worried if i was a lions supporter the likes of ,JP Du Plessis,Robert De Bruyn,Lerm,Willemse tried hard but they look under developed.

  • Comment 21, posted at 28.03.12 18:12:51 by Muzi Reply

  • @Muzi (Comment 16) : Jean Pierre van Wyk,oh man then he surely destined to be a Bull, young man was definitely among the top 5 flyhalves at the Week, great recruitment by the Bulls, yeah heard about Stoney and Odendaal. So I think the Bulls might return Smit to his more natural position on the blindside flank,we a bit stocked with centres

  • Comment 22, posted at 28.03.12 18:25:05 by Ludz Reply

  • The Bulls Under 19s first loose trios will probably look like this:

    6.Damens – Grey College/Janse van Rensburg – Affies
    7.Roelof Smit – Kloffies/Roux – Affies
    8.Steenkamp – Monument/Clyde Davids – Gimmies

    Not bad at all

The depth at lock is exciting

    4.Herbst – Kloffies/Visser – Affies
    5.Du Plessis – Nelspruit/Du Preez – Monnas

I expect some of those locks to make the sa under 20 team soon!
