According to a SAPA report, Bulls reserve hooker Willie Wepener has been ruled out of this weekend’s trip to Newlands.
The former Lions man, who also spent a season with Clermont in France, has apparently picked up an infection to his “facial muscles”, whatever that means and will probably be replaced by Bongi Mbonambi when coach Frans Ludeke names his match 22 later today.
Also unavailable – for a third week running, is open-side flank Deon Stegmann, whose hamstring has yet to recover sufficiently to allow him to take part against the Stormers. CJ Stander is likely to continue in the number 6 jersey this weekend.
Speaking of jerseys, this weekend should see the debut of the Bulls’ controversial pink away strip, one sure to please the Loftus faithful!

Playing in pink in cape town…how appropriate! On a serious note it seems injuries will play a big part this year…so I just wonder how guys like Morne Steyn, Hougaard,Kruger etc will be managed.
@SheldonK (Comment 1) : Well Liefling is back in PTA hoping to sign with the Bulls. 🙂
they will look very nice with the pink boots that some play in 😳
@KSA Shark © (Comment 2) : Where did you see the article about Hougaard wanting to return to Loftus?
Wasn’t that earlier this year or at the end of last year?
@ChrisS (Comment 4) : Read something along those lines on Sunday.
@ChrisS (Comment 4) : It was on N24 this weekend. He is already in PTA and says he is not going back to Europe. He’s recovering from an injury at the moment and says he wants to or has already spoken to the Bulls.
Oh and if anyone is considering mentioning it. NO the Sharks shouldn’t think of trying to get him to Durban
@KSA Shark © (Comment 6) : What, not even as backup to the backup of the backup for the backup of our backup flyhalf!?
@KSA Shark © (Comment 6) : Yip, there was also mention made of him being sponsored to recover from his injuries in SA and working with the Bulls’ conditioning staff.
@Culling Song (Comment 7) : 😆 Not even as backup to the tap. 🙂
some of the hookers coming through are pretty light,Mbonambi,Ntubeni and Hadebe are no heavyweights,but in terms of power to size ratio,I’d say they do pretty well,Hadebe’s a pretty strong lad
@KSA Shark © (Comment 6) : @Original Pierre (Comment 5) : Thanks for the info guys!
