The Sharks will face the Hurricanes in New Plymouth this weekend with former Chiefs and Saracens flyhalf Glen Jackson as the man in the middle. Jackson, who is being fast tracked as a referee, will be in charge of only his second Super Rugby fixture, but by all accounts did well in his debut in Cape Town last month.
Jackson will be assisted by the experienced Garratt Williamson and Mike Fraser as assistant referees, with Richard Kelly the TMO.
Here are the full Week 7 refereeing appointments, courtesy of SANZAR.
Rebels v Blues Melbourne 19:40 Bryce Lawrence
Hurricanes v Sharks New Plymouth 19:35 Glen Jackson
Reds v Brumbies Brisbane 19:40 Steve Walsh
Force v Chiefs Perth 19:40 Jonathon White
Highlanders v Stormers Dunedin 19:35 Chris Pollock

A blind ref could do a better job than Brown.
Sharks game is Friday morning and I choice to miss it, I’m going fishing…..
Bulls vs Crusaders who to shout for, who to shout for…
I thought Jackson reffed well for his debut match will be interesting to see how this goes.
Shame poor Rebels!
@Franshark (Comment 2) : fishing vs watching rugby. You clearly have your priorities wrong.
@RuckingFun (Comment 3) : bet on blue, shout for red
@Franshark (Comment 2) : I think for man of us, Friday will be a day of quiet contemplation… lucky for me, church only starts about half an hour after the fame finishes, so my conscience will be pretty much clear 🙂
church is before for me, hoping service will end before 9:30
@Dunx (Comment 9) : Game starts at 08:35 SA time if I’m not mistaken. You stay in SA?
A bit worried us having a rookie ref. Also he is a kiwi, really am against this reffing system. We need to get back to neutral refs on home ground.
@Ben (Comment 10) : no, pretty sure it’s later than that… thought it was 10h35 SA time?
@robdylan (Comment 12) :
I just checked the SS website. 09:35 SA time.
@Pokkel (Comment 13) : thanks… that makes sense. So it’s done and dusted by 10h30 local time and our Good Friday service is at 11h15.
Sometimes things just work out 🙂
@robdylan (Comment 14) : Our service just happens to start at 9:30! 😀
@vanmartin (Comment 15) : choices choices…
@robdylan (Comment 16) : Indeed
@robdylan (Comment 16) : PVR boys
Brilliant! So far Glen Jackson has really made an impression in that first game in Cape Town. I thought he has been the best ref I’ve seen so far in 2011/2.
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 18) :
I love my PVR!
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 18) : I’d need a dish, a DSTV subscription and a PVR for that to be an option!
@Butchie34 (Comment 19) : He did do a very decent job. The major thing he has in his favour is he’s played the game and recently, so understands how players work etc. He does however lack experience so let’s hope things go well
Glen Jackson is a rare commodity – a referee who has actually played the game at a professional level. He might be inexperienced, but he’s already better than most, and certainly better than the New Zealand Referee of 2011 Award winner…
@Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 18) : @Pokkel (Comment 20) : It’s just not the same if it isn’t live! 🙁
Glen Jackson is my favourite of the NZ refs – he did a number of games in last year’s NPC and was very impressive for a rookie. Also doesn’t talk down to the players like some other refs like to do. He knows it’s about the game and not about him or the players.
