More injury woes for Lions

The Lions have lost young lock forward Paul Willemse – who made his Super Rugby debut for the side against the Cheetahs last weekend – to a shoulder injury and will need to look elsewhere for second row options against the Bulls this weekend.

Willemse will apparently be sidelines for a few weeks, while there is also doubt that captain Josh Strauss will be fit to face their northern neighbours after picking up a lower back injury in Bloemfontein.

The Lions are struggling with an already-crippling injury list and coach John Mitchell now has a huge task on his hands to stop the 2012 campaign, which has to date yielded only a single win in 6 starts, from descending into utter chaos.

  • *SIGH*

At least the Cheetahs can entertain me this weekend. Cheetahs v Chiefs should be a CRACKER of a game…

  • It must be said that the Lions are the envy of the other union when it comes to talented junior locks, the possibility is that Ruan Venter might be withdrawn from u20 squad or call up Roodt
