The opening fixture for weekend 13 of Super Rugby action, and the only Friday fixture, has the Hurricanes taking on the top Australian team, the Brumbies. Both these teams will be pushing hard for victory as a play-off spot is on the line.
The Hurricanes have had a good run these past few weeks, culminating in a victory over the Highlanders last weekend, which has seen them jump up the log and are now only two points outside the play-off zone. A win over the Brumbies will put them in with a shout to be in the top six come the end of the weekend, depending on how results pan out.
The Brumbies are currently sitting pretty at the top of the log, but they will be taking no chances in being caught before the end of the pool games, as the Reds start hitting form and eat up the eight point advantage they currently have. If the Hurricanes prove too strong for the Brumbies, they will aim for at least one bonus point, if not two, to keep the Reds at bay.

How good a coach is Jake White? Man!
3 mins left. Canes still trailing by 12.
@Ben (Comment 49) : Makes me so jealous. Imagine what he could do with all the talent in the Shark Tank?! π
@Ben (Comment 49) : He has some good assistants too. What would I give for Steven Larkham to coach the Sharks backline
FULL TIME
Hurricanes 25 – 37 Brumbies
@Ben (Comment 53) : Is it not the other way around??
@lostfish (Comment 54) : Oops yes. Thanks
oh – I am dead π₯
@rekinek (Comment 56) : That sucks… At least I had nothing to do with it this time π
So I guess this result favors the Sharks.
@Original Pierre (Comment 51) : @Bokhoring (Comment 52) : If only..
@Ben (Comment 55) : It seems I underestimated the Brumbies. I only picked them to win by 6.
@rekinek (Comment 56) :
Welcome to the after life .. π
@Ben (Comment 58) : I guess it does in that it gives us the opportunity to move further ahead of the Canes if we just don’t “make dry” this weekend π
5 picks for the Hurricanes in this game.
LMS after this game.
175 teams entered the game:
8 still alive with a lifeline.
15 still alive with no lifeline.
152 out of the game.
Great result for the Sharks. The top Aussie team will be in 3rd place so it’s better to open the gap between us and the Canes. Also good for my LMS but not so for Superbru.
Does this put the Brumbies beyond reach for the Reds?
They still have a bye as well!
@lostfish (Comment 57) : that’s the problem – I think you jinxed me by omission π
@KSA Shark Β© (Comment 63) : we’re doing well this season… nice to see a handful still standing by week 13!
@Original Pierre (Comment 51) : @Bokhoring (Comment 52) : While I agree with you, lets not forget that we beat them in Australia.
So .. can this be the year of the Brumbie ?
@Salmonoid (Comment 68) : But compare what they have on the books vs. what we have
@Zibbie (Comment 61) : Am I supposed to see the light
@robdylan (Comment 67) : πΏ
@rekinek (Comment 71) :
nah .. just the sound of KSA’s booth kicking you out of the game π
@rekinek (Comment 71) : Only once you make peace with your death and have cuddled with Jennifer Love Hewitt π
@rekinek (Comment 66) : so I am damned if I do and damned if I don’t π
@Bokhoring (Comment 70) : Im not trying to take anything away from them, I enjoy the way they play and I enjoy Jake White as a coach and he is doing great work with this team, Im just pointing out that we did beat them on the road.
@lostfish (Comment 75) :
not exactly – I established that your jinx is reversal – so you must be jinxing – but it’s too late now π
@Zibbie (Comment 73) : he might gotten upset that I called him old man (note to self : be nice to administrators
@rekinek (Comment 56) : π― after that big fight we put up you give up so easily
siiighhh – i need to work now – too aerly to start drinking I guess (this morning games π
@Salmonoid (Comment 76) : Look the man seems to have a talent for taking teams from nowhere and building them up. No one expected anything from the Brumbies this year
@Franshark (Comment 79) : i was booted π― good luck π
@rekinek (Comment 82) : thanks, but I think there will be a few left with both live lines intact at the end…. just trying to see how long I could hold…..
@rekinek (Comment 78) : π
Well at least to the old ones. π
Love this result
Jake White is a legend π
@JarsonX (Comment 86) : I AGREE!
@rekinek (Comment 78) :
I see a pattern here .. i called him oom π
@rekinek (Comment 78) : good note π
@Zibbie (Comment 88) : byeeeeeeee
