The dust has not settled on the Golden Lions and Guma TAC Group deal, or settlement should I say, and the company is back in the news again, this time targeting another rugby union.
News24.com reports that the Guma Group have been in talks with the EP Kings and is close to signing a deal with the potential Super Rugby franchise. Guma themselves have come forward to confirm that they have been in discussions with the Kings for a few months already.
The Kings are now guaranteed Super Rugby participation for both the 2013 and 2014 years, and with this guarantee comes the ability to generate income, with the Guma Group keen on getting their hands on some of that.
The Group has indicated that it wants to put in place a high performance centre which will be focused on bringing the young talent from the rural areas and developing it.
This investment hangs in the balance as nothing short of guaranteed Super Rugby participation for two years would swing the Guma Group into pumping money into the franchise.

Will we see that big fat cheque book again? 🙄
@Ben (Comment 1) :
Will be interesting to watch this unfold..
I wonder if they will try liquidate the Kings if they do not see a return on their investment?
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 2) : Can’t really see these companies pumping money into a union and buying players making too much profit at the end of the day?
@Ben (Comment 3) :
That’s the thing..
Why do it then?
The exposure is not that great?!
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 4) : It baffles me as well..
I actually see this as a positive, if it results in a strong Kings franchise.
Watson + Ichikowitz + Gumede, will be a match made in heaven Sit back and watch this one unfold.
Fill the tanks, warm up the engines, chocks away… Mapoe and Butch to be received as hereos by Megatron at PE airport.
@Salmonoid (Comment 7) :
@Salmonoid (Comment 7) : Oh this is gonna be interesting.
I don`t really care who they sign as long as we can afford Steyn and Minnie !!
Guma TAC are a bunch of snakes
Guma wouldn’t be my choice of partner, but beggars can’t be choosers.
If the group can help the Kings swim, then I hope it works out.
