The Sharks are again looking pretty good on the injury front ahead of Saturday’s must-win home game against the Stormers.
John Plumtree has told the Sharks website that centre Tim Whitehead looks to be the only serious doubt ahead of the game, having aggravated his troublesome groin against the Cheetahs on Saturday. A late call will be made, with Meyer Bosman the man likely to step into the number 12 jersey should Whitehead be forced to withdraw.
Steven Sykes, who went off for blood against the Cheetahs and was replaced early in the second half by Willem Alberts, is apparently not seriously injured and will be able to play the Stormers.
In other good news, both Pat Lambie and Louis Ludik are expected to be fit for selection as well, giving Plumtree options aplenty at both flyhalf and fullback. While Fred Michalak and (to a lesser extent) Riaan Viljoen acquitted themselves well in Bloemfontein, Lambie and Ludik were both a cut above against the Force a week earlier and it’s likely the coach will restore both to his starting line-up, given the option.

I’d rather have the same team that played the last 2 weeks play against the Stormers then a new centre (or other) combination. You better get well soon Timmy boy 😉
Great news Rob.
Sorry about yesterday, shouldn’t have responded 😳
i dare Plum to start meyer Bosman, i double dare him! 😀
TW + PJ vs JdV + JdJ = tears for the Sharks midfield.
@Megatron (Comment 3) : Yeah – like Ellison was going to rip the Sharks midfield apart
I see JDV missed 33% of his tackles against the Tahs
@Bokhoring (Comment 4) : LOL where did you get that? 😆
@Megatron (Comment 3) : I cant wait for the Kings to join SR, even the Force will manage a win then 😉
@Megatron (Comment 5) : Verusco
Get Well Tim!
Our season is in your hands . . . 🙁
Good to know Lambie and Ludik will be ready even though Fred did a good job, Lambie is invaluable and will be a very important part of this game.
I hope Tim is also ready, although Bosman should do a good stand in job, the combinations has just started to click it would be a shame if we had to break our continuity.
If Bosman does start, who will we see taking his place on the bench? Again Odwa with Fred?
@JarsonX (Comment 6) : me too 😎
@Bokhoring (Comment 7) : i meant the part about Ellison tearing the Sharks midfield… 😀
@Letgo (Comment 9) : You’re probably right, Odwa and Fred with the same 5-2 split.
We’ll probably look at bringing on Kanko, Deysel and Alberts for the last 30min to run the Stormers loosies off their feet. Add in Burden for the last 10min and the Stormers won’t know what hit them!
@Megatron (Comment 11) : I recall you telling us how Ellison was going to tear up the inexperienced Sharks midfield – can’t recall it really happening
Wonder when exactly Frans Steyn will be back to save us.
It`s almost June . . . tick tock tick tock
@Original Pierre (Comment 14) : Id also love to know whats to story on that…
Tim has played a hell of allot of ruggas , he needs a rest….
@Uli (Comment 15) : Only 2 more games and then most of the team gets a long rest.
Not happy with Meyer Bosman fronting up to the Stormers after he gave Jean De Villiers the open runway in both games last year.
@CapeShark (Comment 17) : 12 months is a long time… 12 months ago PDV was Bok coach, Julias had a job, Stefan Terblanche still played rugby,Bryce Lawrence could visit SA…so anything can happen in 12 months…
@SheldonK (Comment 18) : Heh-heh you’re right. It’s just that Meyer Bosman is not a great defender in big games. Stats only tell half the story. He tends to make game-changing mistakes. Hopefully he can man up against JDV.
@CapeShark (Comment 17) : 😆
@SheldonK (Comment 18) : ja, like “re-conditioning”
😆
@CapeShark (Comment 19) : Ya i hope he does stand up on defense because he offers a lot on attack, his distribution is very good and you might see Jordaan look even better this weekend because of it. I think SA centres in general need to man up on defense. Think of the centres in the Bok reckoning…are any really good defenders like Jacques Fourie was?
@CapeShark(comment 19) Why don’t you say anything about the game the beginning of the year when Bosman was nearly the man of the match. Did you see where is Timmie on the list for the most tackles missed.
bit scared of Meyer starting against the Stormers, Can’t we rather put JP at the centre and either Ludick or Odwa at the wing.
@springbok (Comment 23) : There is no denying that Meyer had good appearances but those were just too few and those that he was not that good were just too conspicous.
@rekinek (Comment 25) : I have faith in Meyer Bosman…
@GreatSharksays (Comment 26) : I hope he repays. I do hope very much that he proves me wrong.
