Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer has appointed Jean de Villiers as captain for the three test series against England, starting this Saturday at Mr Price Kings Park. De Villiers, who becomes the 54th test captain, will lead out a team balanced with both experience and youth, after leading the Stormers in the absence of regular Stormers captain, Schalk Burger.
The series against England will be Meyer’s first series in charge of the Springboks, and has been vocal in appointing a captain only for the three test series, as regular players such as Schalk Burger, who was tipped as captain after the retirement of both John Smit and Victor Matfield, are currently injured.
de Villier’s first task will be to lead a Springbok team with only a week of training together under their belt, against a rejuvenated England team, who has impressed so far this year, finishing second in the Six Nations under then caretaker coach Stuart Lancaster.

@chucky (Comment 19) : Would be a absolute shame to have Zane start ahead of Lambie. Though I am expecting Zane to start as well. If it was not Lambie starting it REALLY should have been Aplon. Anyhow think Meyer will go with Zane unfortunately as Lambie covers 15, 12 and 10.

I KNOW we can’t discuss that here and I honestly don’t like to talk about stuff like that, but it is what saru has stipulated as far as I know. So could that also be the reason Zane will start ahead of Lambie? Probably too. It then SHOULD HAVE BEEN APLON. Eish! some that missed out on selection is a mystery.
I have heard all morning on the radio here it will be Zane starting so that it will be. Just have to get behind our Bokke and support them
