John Smit has opted to bolster his Barney’s Army squad with two youngsters drawn from the Sharks Vodacom Cup and under 21 ranks.

We’re expecting Smit’s line-up to be confirmed this morning, but our understanding is that Sharks XV prop Danie Mienie and centre Heimar Williams will be included in the 22. Based on the enthusiastic response from both players on Twitter, one can only assume that realise what a huge honour and privilege it is to be named – and to play – amongst to many former great of the game.

There’s also a pretty good opportunity to show John Plumtree what they can do, in direct opposition to those playing ahead of them for the Sharks!

Congrats to both Danie and Heimar and enjoy the experience, boys.

  • Where are Marius Joubert, Steve Sykes and Jacques Botes?? Would have thought they’d feature for either side.

This is going to be an awesome match!! Got to feel for Deysel not being in the Bok side ahead of Potgieter. I remember Potgieter from when he was at UKZN though and he was a beast! Tackled anything that moved and a really high workrate!! Keen to see how he goes πŸ™‚
