Jean Deysel leads the Sharks out tonight against former captain and friend John Smit, in an exhibition match sure to deliver much in the way of open, exciting rugby.
A full program is planned, with College Rovers hosting Varsity Cup champions Tuks in the curtain-raiser, starting at 5pm. After Rovers won the National Club Champs in 2010, plenty of their players came onto the Tukkies radar and tonight’s match will see a fair few Rovers Old Boys returning to Durban to take on their former club. It’s going to be a huge clash to decide club supremacy in the country, with Rovers record over the last few years seeing them rightly billed as the best open (i.e non-university) club side in South Africa.
The main match kicks off at 19h05.

Really enjoyed the game. The first Sharks game where I have supported the opposing team. So good to see Brent and Shaun playing at Kings Park again.
I tell you what guys, Brent Russell still has the twinkle toes. Great to see him running around our youngsters. Such a shame how the Sharks and Wp messed that dude around. He could have been our own ‘wee Shane Williams
Sharks tries were scored by
Odwa, Tim (x2), Burden, Chris Cloete, Cobus Reinach and Rosco Speckman
@CapeShark (Comment 53) : Agreed. Russel made our wings look very pedestrian. Good game.
This game really made me laugh at the people who think Deysel is a fetcher. Kleinhans is a very decent fetcher. Saw him turnover the ball 4 times.
Burden had a awesome game. Kyle Cooper should never play at loosehead again. Couldn’t even bind properly.
The best wing on the park:
BRENT RUSSELL
