This is still sinking in, but the Junior Springboks turned in another magnificent performance last night to thrash their All Black counterparts and claim a maiden IRB Junior World Championship title in the process.

To Dawie Theron and his team, we’d like to extend heartfelt thanks and congratulations for such a superb showing and an amazing comeback to win a tournament that started off so badly for them.

You guys are true Boks and showed true fighting spirit. I’m sure we’re all proud South African today as a result of your achievements.

A special shout out must go to the Sharks boys who played last night – Maks van Dyk, Allan Dell and Piet-Steph du Toit. You are a credit to your province and your country, boys!

  • Well done Baby Boks! I must say that after the first game I had little hope but I’m so happy that you guys showed the guts and determination to pull it off. Bloody proud of the youngsters and the future looks bright for SA rugby.

  • Congrats! Listened to the Kiwis on Reunion saying that they were favourites for the title, even though it was a home game for us – that showed them!

  • Well done.

I was an unashamed doubter, and not the biggest Dawie Theron coaching fan, so I must say that this was some delicious humble pie.

  • Great JB’s…you never looked beaten at any time…

Not even the inbred cape traitors in AB gear could spoil your day….

  • It is an interesting casestudy for the NZRFU to take on board …… it proved that you need to send a full strength side to this comp if you want to win it and that you need to prepare and select wisely.

Having a quick look at the side …. with the NZRFU not making any Super players available for the side.. it looked light of experience. With only 4 players in the squad with minimal experience at first class level …. the rest of the squad had none!

They were well and truely beaten a change of policy will need to be in place before France next year or the same thing will happen again if not at the hands of SA then England or Australia.

It was interesting to see the improved showing of Argentina making it to the semis for the first time!

@Hmmm (Comment 8) : I take it one of them was not you! 😆
