The final game of round 16 in Super Rugby 2012, and we are in Pretoria where the Bulls host the Cheetahs, and one of the most entertaining derbies await us, no doubt.

The Bulls have a host of Springboks that have not had a break, especially looking at their 8, 9, 10 combination, but this could either spell danger, where a combination has been playing together for a while is a good thing, or could end up costing the Bulls, as both Francois Hougaard and Morne Steyn have been below par in recent weeks. How the pair bounce back, will be interesting to see.

By contrast, the Cheetahs have only one Springbok back, in captain Adriaan Strauss, who might have been with the Boks for three weeks, but has taken a back seat in playing time, coming onto the park in the second half in all three tests. Riaan Smit continues at flyhalf in the absence of injured Johan Goosen and rudderless Sias Ebersohn. Heinrich Brussow will be keen to make an impact and prove his worth ahead of the Rugby Championship in August.

Never seen such stupidity from any team ever. Just total disregard for points on offer.

  • can one of the senior guys here clarify a few things for me…

    1. Is Kanko still available until the end of S15?
    2. Is Frans eligable to play in the play-offs??
    3. Does anyone know if we are scouting for scrumhalf replacements?? – McLeod is highly overrated.

Another question? Is Gouws ready to play at this level?? I see he his behind Ludik and Viljoen on the list. Would love to see him introduced in the CC…

  • The Sharks sauntered in to Ellis Park and thought just by turning up they’d win. That was the game that cost them a play off place. Typical choke from the Sharks.

Besides, I can’t stand this new play off system. It rewards mediocrity. 6th place means squat. Do not be happy if we somehow scrape into 6th place like we did last year! Enough is enough, we need a coaching clean out.

  • @siorc (Comment 6) : With you 100%.

Under Plum we have achieved nothing in Super Rugby.

He’s a good-ish CC coach, but he has taken us nowhere in the real rugby. Every year we end up in basically the same position.

2010, 2011 and now 2012 we have to win our final game/s to hopefully scrape into the bottom play-off spot which we’ll in any case end up losing.

    Time to move on.
