Finally we get to see the local teams in action, and first up is the Stormers hosting the Lions at Newlands, a game many will think has only one possible outcome. That’s what the Sharks thought as well.

The Stormers have taken a risk, albeit calculated, to rest some key players in Kitshoff, Etzebeth and Habana, following their workloads over the early part of the season and more recently with National duty. There is also yet another loose forward combination, with youngster Don Armand and Tyrone Holmes joining also young Kolisi. Good news though is that Andries Bekker is back in the second row, even though he is likely to only play a half of rugby.

For the Lions, things cannot really get any worse. The players have opted to have their coach suspended, had another two coaches at the helm in the build up week, and are still unsure of what exactly will happen to them next year. They might have only three games left in Super Rugby, and will be hoping to make the best of their time and in same way proving they are worthy to take part again next year.
