According to New Zealand media, the “house full” signs have already gone up at Hamilton Stadium ahead of Saturday’s first-ever Super Rugby Final at the ground.
Chiefs fans from all over the country, starved of success in this competition, have turned up in their droves to support the home side as they host the Sharks in their first final on home ground. 25 100 tickets have apparently been sold in just a day, with hopeful punters queueing up at the stadium gates for up to six hours yesterday.
Tickets went on sale at 8am yesterday, but some fans were there waiting as early as 2am just to make sure they could be part of the historic occasion. For the Sharks, it seems that the clanging of the traditional cowbells will be deafening indeed this time out. Let’s just hope the good folks of Hamilton have the decency to keep them quiet during opposition attempts at goal – quite unlike the recent semi-final.

25000 People, that won’t be a big thing for the Sharks, I mean that is what we get at a unimportant Currie Cup game
@KingRiaan (Comment 1) : What I thought 😛
I am so excited yet so afraid of this game, not sure I can take the heartache of 2007 again
The mayor of hamilton has said that there will be a parade for when the chiefs win the game and become champions.Hmmm what happens if they dont,what a waste of money to celebrate second best 😯
Man, the Hamilton town council is absolutely useless! Here I am graciously trying to organise a rubbish skip for all the cowbells to be disposed of when the Chiefs lose, and do you think I can get any assistance…
@Culling Song (Comment 5) : :lol:, ask Whackhead Simpson for some help.
a sold out stadium? the sharks will be in new territory here 😆
I have read about a restaurant owner who, this week, is preparing 3 special Shark dishes for his patrons at 3 restaurants he owns in Hamilton. Hope they choke on the fish like the Stormers choked in their semi final.
@Megatron (Comment 7) : Hi Megatron, sorry to hijack the thread here, but do you know if the Kings are playing this weekend and where I can get the teamsheet?
@Megatron (Comment 7) :
😆
@KingRiaan (Comment 9) : they’re playing the Pumas @ Mbombela stadium, the team will be announced today.
@Megatron (Comment 11) : Thank you
@Megatron (Comment 7) : Eh, not quite, Newlands was sold. I was there to witness the tears of the adoring, entitled (not) masses. Sharks seem to like sellout away crowds.
@Salmonoid (Comment 13) : sad that they have to play away to get that experience, innit? 🙂
goodness knows the schools elsewhere in the country don’r have school derbies on weekends at the same time as their franchises 🙄 😆
@Megatron (Comment 14) : That schools game at the same time as the Sharks is just daft.
Full houses for anything but the playoffs and finals is just standard practice these days for all teams so the sad bit would apply to any team playing in the final, not just the Sharks. The really sad part is that the Hamilton crowd couldnt fill a 25000 seater last weekend.
@Salmonoid (Comment 15) : Is 25000 all the Hamilton stadium can take?
Then this Saturday’s crowd will feel like a CC match for the Sharks 😈
Meg, do the kings , your “bestest team” I believe, ever have more than just friends, cameraman and family at any of their highly enrertaining matches they play??
@FireTheLooser (Comment 16) : Thats what I gather from the figures being thrown around. 😯
@CLASSIC SHARK (Comment 17) : hey, we consistently have more than the sharks 😆
@FireTheLooser (Comment 16) : @Salmonoid (Comment 18) : Just checked on SuperBru, they say it is 27500.
@Salmonoid (Comment 20) : the stadium itself isnt the best in the world,so hopefully the sharks dont get stage fright come saturday.Man how good would a 55000 sold out kings park be to win super rugby.Hopefully next year we can do this.
Meg, I don’t think so dude, I’ve been to a few over the last 2 months and can easily say your boy don’t attract big crowds, I must say however , you have a really great stadium, I’ve taken a tour right through it.
Now where’s the admin people when you need them.
Pls. approve my new profile pick

@FireTheLooser (Comment 23) : Mine too please!!
I do believe we will have a few Pic changes today
@Die Kriek (Comment 24) : Yeah, admin might as well stick around – they might as well do a post about it and get it over and done with
@FireTheLooser (Comment 25) : Now that is a good idea!
@Die Kriek (Comment 24) : Thank you!
I like the new look profile pics, hope more die hard Sharks fans will follow, giving the comments section a very definite sign of Shark support, and also making the non-Shark supporters feel a little bit more out of place 😉
@FireTheLooser (Comment 23) : Easier if you use Gravatar….you don’t have to wait for admin to approve. 😀
@Pokkel (Comment 29) : So when are you changing?
Come on buddy, let’s paint this place black,white and red.
Checking out gravatar right now
@FireTheLooser (Comment 28) : They are welcome to add their’s as well, even if only for this week. There are a few nice ones that haven’t got the Sharks logo on, perfect for a non-Shark supporting our boys this weekend
@Pokkel (Comment 29) : NICE
It is going to make comments more difficult to read though.
and they still battle to fill those tiny stadiums!
