WP coach Alister Coetzee has confirmed what many of us have secretly been fearing for some months now; Schalk Burger’s 2012 season appears to be well over, having lasted less than 20 minutes.
Coetzee told Eye-Witness News that Burger’s knee injury, sustained in the opening minutes of his side’s first Super Rugby game back in February, has not responded to treatment as hoped and that plans to gradually introduce him to action in this year’s Currie Cup have now been all-but shelved.
With an injury that seems to be taking a hell of a lot longer to heal than the initial prognosis would have suggested, there are whispered concerns that Juan Smith may not be the only veteran Bok flanker whose future in the game is in jeopardy.

What injury does schalk have anyways?
