Another instalment of our JustRugby.net Super Rugby Fantasy League has come to an end and we are ready to announce our winners!
It’s been a hell of a competition and a hell of a season, with those 10 trades starting to look like very slim pickings indeed, given the high attrition rate in this tournament. Those who managed to pick a good squad at the start and nurse those men through 21 rounds – making the right starting xv changes were necessary and using their trades as a last resort (or a tactical weapon for the knock-outs) invariably do better than the eager beavers who use up all ten in the first two rounds!
This year, our Fantasy League was kindly sponsored by Canterbury SA. We’re proud to announce that our second-placed contestant, Volstruis, has won a Canterbury voucher to the value of R1200. For our overall winner, Bokkie, whose Dream XV won by almost 250 points, the prize is a Canterbury voucher to the value of R1500. Congrats to both of you and we’ll be in touch shortly to arrange delivery of the vouchers.
The full top ten looks as follows:
1 | Dream xv | Bokkie | 7501.5 |
2 | Getroud met Rugby | Volstruis | 7271 |
3 | Danman XV | Danman110 | 7197.25 |
4 | Killers | Mr Bones | 7109.25 |
5 | Ekkies XV | Ekkies XV | 6854.75 |
6 | Super dream team | Kabous | 6840 |
7 | 7’s se STAATMAKERS | Sewes | 6814 |
8 | Flop What | flop | 6797.75 |
9 | Kompos Cowboys | januh | 6794.75 |
10 | Vati Kaki | Wernsie | 6744.5 |
Sharksworld’s own authors didn’t do quite as well as expected this time around, with Richard Ferguson finishing agonisingly outside of the top ten, in 11th position over all. Hertford Highlander managed to end in 28th, with yours truly managing a lowly 35th place finish.
We’d like to encourage all who played to sign up for the 2012 Currie Cup Fantasy League as soon as possible.

Well done guys. 😎 I’ve managed a 13th spot 🙁
@JarsonX (Comment 1) : 16 for me, congrats to the winners…
I had 6 trades left when the knockout games started and it didnt help all that much. Picking the perfect squad at the start is key. And then all you need is luck with injuries etc.
Well done to the winners. 😎
I just getting worse and worse. My first FL I was 5th and it’s been downhill since then. 🙄
@JarsonX (Comment 3) : Getting the starting XV right is also important.
I`m gonna have to come up with a better strategy.
Think I can blame South Africa Sports Illustrated for my dismal display. Can you believe they gave the Blues a chance?!
I didn’t get the chance at the time to congratulate the winners ….. well done chaps. An absolutely outstanding performance by Bokkie from start to finish …… I think I managed to win only ONE round ……I look forward to locking horns with you all again in the new year! 😆
