Heyneke Meyer’s fourth match in charge of the Springboks sees them take on Argentina in the first week of Rugby Championship action, to be played at Newlands in Cape Town.
The Springboks see a few changes from the last test match played, the drawn third test against England, with Zane Kirchner coming back at fullback and Lwazi Mvovo getting a start in place of the injured JP Pietersen. In the forwards, Eben Etzebeth and Andries Bekker play their first test match together, and Keegan Daniel starts his first test match.
The Argentinians are a largely unknown quantity, with a few big names in the team recognizable from the World Cups. Juan Martin Henandez will look to put the pressure on Morne Steyn, who is under some pressure from within South Africa to perform in this match.
South Africa will be too strong for their South American counterparts, but look for the Argentinians to improve as the season continues.

@KILLER SHARK (Comment 14) : @KSA Shark © (Comment 15) :
Agree. It’s been very ponderous stuff in the second half.
Did Hougaard just Campese himself?? 😆
Habs is off injured too.
Boks look kak.
@klempie (Comment 20) : Proteas, however, are looking good. 😎
FT Boks 27 – 6 Pumas
Highlight of the 2nd half was the Springbok Physio flashing her red G-string while attending to Strauss in the 78th minute.
And that my friends, was not good enough.
Once again the breakdown – but execution will probably be blamed.
We’ll sadly only really be able to gauge where the Boks are once we play NZ.
Disappointed that Keegan and Lambie got short changed by our esteemed coach…but anything to give Potgieter a shot at showing off his silicone treated hair-do. 🙄
@KSA Shark © (Comment 23) : Missed it. 👿
@KSA Shark © (Comment 23) : Proteas putting the hurt on the Poms. 😎
@KSA Shark © (Comment 23) : Was an interesting choice of undergarment to wear under a Springbok tracksuit…probably vying for a photo shoot with FHM 😆
@klempie (Comment 26) : I am liking that, switching back and forth between rugby and Cricket. Will stick with the cricket to the close of play now.
Didn’t know HM did the MOTM awards too 😯
@KSA Shark © (Comment 28) : Likewise.
Jeez but the Boks play a dire brand of rugga.
Kick and chase… 👿
Am I the only one that seems to think our midfield is predictable or is that what happens when you have Morne on their inside? Good defence but no real plan on attack.
@Bite me (Comment 32) : I had to laugh at Jeremy Guscott (studio crew in the Middle east) saying that if he was JdV he’d tell Morne Steyn “I’m the Captain, either you pass the ball to your outside or I’ll make sure you don’t get selected” 😆
And the two times Jean did run with ball, he simply crabbed towards his touchline, leaving his wings hardly any space.
Each and every JdV run resulted in a turnover to the Pumas.
Morne should rather skip pass him next week.
