The exodus at the Lions has slowly started, with news filtering through that props Jacobie Adriaanse and Caylib Oosthuizen off to Europe and the Cheetahs respectively, and Baby Bok Paul Willemse agreeing to join the Bulls at the end of the Currie Cup.
All three players will be dearly missed in the Lions setup, with Adriaanse and Oosthuizen a big blow to the forward stock, while Willemse is an up and coming player with a huge future ahead of him.
The Bulls have already confirmed another lock / loose forward signing from the Lions in Grant Hattingh.
The Lions will continue to lose players as the dust settles on the news that they will not be part of Super Rugby in 2013.

Fun times …
I can understand Caylib and Jacobie’s decisions, but what hope has Willemse got playing understudy to the understudies?
@Die Kriek (Comment 2) :
If you look at Jano Vermaak its better to be 2nd choice at the Bulls then first choice at the Lions .
sad though for the game of rugby that the bulls second team will be better than the lions first
@Zibbie (Comment 3) : Wont he be 5th choice? But I get your point
@Die Kriek (Comment 2) : The Bulls will actually be able to pay him a salary.
@King Shark (Comment 6) : True
how many players has so far been confirmed moving to other unions?
@MJ (Comment 8) :
those names you see here ….
Pat Cilliers to Province. Pat Cilliers to Province. Pat Cilliers to Province.
If I say it enough, will it happen?
Jaco Taute would be best going to the Sharks. Would make an excellent centre.
@hendrikp (Comment 10) : Pat Cilliers to Sharks mate, you have Ginger Man, don’t be greedy.
@Die Kriek (Comment 11) :
Kitshoff loosehead, Cilliers tighthead. Malherbe riding the pine.
Yeaaaaaah Buddy.
@Die Kriek (Comment 11) :
Sorry . Dont think he will come back to the Sharks . Why should he ? you have beast and Jannie already …
Ive heard stories that he is going over seas . But that was before his Bok debut …
@Zibbie (Comment 13) :
I think the Bok call up will keep him in South Africa..
He would do well going to the Cheetahs, seeing as they have lost quite a few forwards..
But then again, going to WP would also be good for him.
The Sharks have plenty young props coming through in the next two or so years, we are covered..
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 14) : Pat should have gone to WP about 4 years ago. I remember suggesting a loan move at the time.
@Richard Ferguson (Comment 14) :
as things seem for now is that players who’s contracts run out will leave . The once who are contracted till next year will stay but be loaned out to other unions for super rugby .
If this will actually happen is another question ..
@Zibbie (Comment 16) : agents are actively trying to get them out of their contracts there.
@robdylan (Comment 17) :
Makes sense .
@robdylan (Comment 17) : And the Lions don’t have a very good history with players and courts
