After three defeats in three weeks, Griquas coach Pote Human has decided to start making changes to his troubled team, with Justin Downey and Stefan Watermeyer paying the price.

Downey is replaced in the starting fifteen with Marnus Schoeman, and still gets a bench spot, unlike Watermeyer, who drops out of the match 22 completely for Jean Stemmet.

A third change to the starting team is the continued rotation at scrumhalf between Marnus Hugo and Jacques Coetzee.

Human will be looking to his settled tight five and seasoned backline players like Rocco Jansen and Walter Venter, along with the talented Willie le Roux, to step up and get the team their first victory of the season.

Griquas: Willie le Roux, Jannie Boshoff, Jean Stemmet, Walter Venter, Rocco Jansen, Francois Brummer, Marnus Hugo, Leon Karemaker, Wesley Wilkins, Marnus Schoeman, Martin Muller, Ligtoring Landman, Lourens Adriaanse, Ryno Barnes (Capt), Steph Roberts.

Reserves: Matthew Dobson, Ivann Espag, Frikkie Spies, Justin Downey, Jacques Coetzee, Marnitz Boshoff, Matthew Rosslee.

  • I have to say, I think Willie le Roux should be played at Flyhalf or should be used in that channel more often.

Brummer just don’t have the ability to create like le roux does and the Griquas looks much more dangerous when le roux gets the ball closer to the action.

The Cheetahs used him really well from fullback, but Griquas have not yet been able to find the best way to use him.

Poor Watermeyer. Has he really been dropped. Not even a niggle of anything?

  • He played for the cheetahs at fullback with good effect. Brummer hasnt been a flash flyhalf from what i have seen. But i wouldnt move le roux out of fullback.
