In something of a shock move, it was confirmed yesterday that Sharks under 19 tight head prop Richie Palframan is leaving Durban imminently to take up a contract with London Irish in the UK.
Palframan, a product of Rondebosch Boys High and son of former Proteas wicket-keeper Steve, has played in the number 3 jersey for the Sharks’ under 19s in five of their six matches to date, before mysteriously disappearing from the team sheet for last week’s game against the Leopards.
Palframan, who holds a German passport and is thus eligible to play in the UK without a visa, confirmed via Facebook that he’s very grateful to the Sharks for the opportunities they have given him, but has opted to take up the gig with the Exiles and will leave for the UK this week.
We wish him the best of luck for the future.

best of luck to him.
Pity but I guess there a few in front of him so if offered a contract over seas – go!! Best of luck Ritchie!!
