The first Currie Cup action for the weekend sees the Sharks travel to Kimberley to take on Griquas, who won their first match of the season against the Lions last weekend. The Sharks come off a last gasp win over the Cheetahs, and will be pushing for an improved performance in the last match of the first round.
Griquas have made only one change to the team that secured the first win last weekend, with Luzuko Vulindlu coming in for the injured Jannie Boshoff. The team seems to have finally settled and will look to build on their performance against the Lions and mount a serious challenge for the play-offs.
The Sharks have made a single change to their team that beat the Cheetahs last weekend, Steven Sykes failing to recover from a rib injury in time and Jandre Marais getting another start alongside Anton Bresler. Riaan Viljoen will be under some pressure to lift his game after the nightmare he had against the Cheetahs.
Griquas: 15 Willie le Roux, 14 Luzuko Vulindlu, 13 Jean Stemmet, 12 Walter Venter, 11 Rocco Jansen, 10 Francois Brummer, 9 Marnus Hugo, 8 Leon Karemaker, 7 Wesley Wilkins, 6 Marnus Schoeman, 5 Martin Muller, 4 Rynhardt Landman, 3 Lourens Adriaanse, 2 Ryno Barnes (captain), 1 Steph Roberts.
Replacements: 16 Simon Westraadt, 17 Ivann Espag, 18 Frikkie Spies, 19 Justin Downey, 20 Jacques Coetzee, 21 Marnitz Boshoff, 22 Richard Lawson.
Sharks: 15 Louis Ludik, 14 Odwa Ndungane, 13 Paul Jordaan, 12 Meyer Bosman, 11 S’bura Sithole, 10 Riaan Viljoen, 9 Charl McLeod, 8 Keegan Daniel, 7 Jean Deysel (captain), 6 Jacques Botes, 5 Anton Bresler, 4 Jandre Marais, 3 Wiehahn Herbst, 2 Monde Hadebe, 1 Dale Chadwick.
Replacements: 16 Pieter Dixon, 17 Julian Redelinghuys, 18 Peet Marais, 19 Francois Kleinhans, 20 Brynard Stander, 21 Cobus Reinach, 22 Marius Joubert.

Sharks can still win this game, but why the hell is semi-Pro allowed to ref at this level? What a clueless twerp.

Absolutely no creativity from the Sharks when they get the ball.
@Rvw (Comment 16) : Not the first time a team I have supported has been accused of that today..
Paul Jordaan off injured
Daniels moved to the wing. No more backs to replace injured Jordaan
70min still

Griekwas 22
Sharks 15

if this goes over, game over boys
Said it last week already – lack of direction or penetration in midfield is a major issue. No point just shuffling the ball from left to right with no purpose.
Back to criket. Would be nice to watch one team win..
4min left. Griekwas has a line out
Sharks steal the line out
As a miracle we may get a draw, but thats it. What a great rugby weekend. Both the sharks and boks playing dumb rugby.
Redelinghuys? 3 penalties in 3 minutes! I am sure we have better reserve props at the U21’s.
3min left Sharks have the ball on the half line
2min left. Griekwas turn the ball over. Sharks held up in the tackle
1min left. Griekwas get a penalty on the half line
30 seconds. Griekwas take the line out
Penalty for the Sharks. Take it quick. Time up. Sharks on the attack
Still on the attack

Penalty to the Sharks right in front of the post. Take the tap 84min. Sharks knocks the ball on
Griekwas win 22-15
@Mutley (Comment 39) : Well, doesnt that just sum it up…
Thank God I didnยดt get to watch this crap.
When last did we manage to win in Kimberley? ๐ณ ๐
What a disappointing game of rugby.
Griquas was more than happy to just win the fight, Sharks was more than happy to be dragged down to their level and was beaten by their experience.
Too much scrappy rugby for one weekend…time for a change of scenery – Blu Ray movies here we come
@ Mutley (comment 21) It was Redlinghuys – not Chadwick
@ Bite Me (comment 30) not to mention the 2 occasions he lost possession. Now is the time to blood a youngster. They took Schonert to Australia only to hold tackle bags. Why not give him a chance? Look what happened when Jordaan given a chance (he also carried tackle bags in Aus)
So there we have it. The Sharks lost, the Cheetahs lost and the Bulls lost 2 games today! ๐
