After some speculation around Josh Strauss, the Lions Rugby union has confirmed on their website that the flanker will move to Scotland, where he will represent the Glasgow Warriors, in an agreement that will run until mid-2015.

Strauss, who was linked to a move to the Kings, will join the club in the next two weeks, and it is unlikely that we will see him play for the Lions in the Currie Cup again this year.

  • @Pokkel (Comment 3) : Doesn’t seem to fit Meyer’s loose-forward mould but a pity nonetheless!

    Plays for the Lions…

So far this year, Adriaan Strauss is the only player from either the Lions or Cheetahs to see the starting-XV, and that due to injury.

Coenie Oosthuizen, Johan Goosen & Pat Cilliers the only others to see any game-time.

If you want to be a Bok, you don’t wanna be playing for either of those teams.

That being said I wasn’t sold on Strauss.

  • @hendrikp (Comment 6) : Josh Strauss is, to me, the Lions equivalent of Jean Deysel; useful provincial and Super Rugby player, immensely popular with the fans (including me), but both leave me with this lingering doubt about their ability to hack it at international level

  • @Pokkel (Comment 5) : Wasn’t referring to his physical attributes. Difficult to putmy finger on it. Let’s just say he doesn’t strike me as the kind of player to toe the party line. Kind of similar to Keegan Daniel in a way.

  • Springbok team has been announced 😡 😐 👿 😥

I can say this though, HM is as stubborn as a Botswana DONKEY, he’d rather get run over by a truck than listen to the warning signals and move!
