Sharksworld’s Currie Cup Team of the week is brought to you by LaLuxe B&B

Relax in the Luxury of LaLuxe.

We have reached the halfway stage of this year’s Currie Cup competition and with the shortened strength versus strength competition is is still very hard to determine who the real front runners of this competition is.

Our weekend winning teams dominate the numbers again this weekend. The Griquas, with another great performance, to take their second victory of the season has 5 players. Western Province seems to be gaining momentum, and are even starting to look like they can run the ball, has 4 players in our team after their closely fought out victory against their opposition. The Cheetahs  is the only team on the losing side over the weekend represented in our team with 3 players. The Lions also has 3, but with their resurgent victory over the Bulls, a few others came close.

15. Willie le Roux

He is used mostly as first receiver by the Griquas, especially on attack, where he has been most influential.

14. Nico Scheepers

Very involved in everything the Cheetahs did.

13. Lionel Mapoe

He broke the line at will and helped the Lions to a comeback win.

12. Marcel Brache

Suddenly WP knows how to run the ball, is it the coaching or the players?

11. Damian de Allende

Another young man who is proving himself during this Currie Cup and will be hoping for more chances next season.

10. Demetri Catrakilis

Controls the game with accurate kicking and smart running and distribution, a great talent for the future.

9. Sarel Pretorius

He’s everywhere on the field. No one has been able to keep him quiet.

8 Warren Whiteley

If he can stay injury free he can become an exciting player that any team would want on their team sheet.
7. Pieter Labuschagne

He got his team over the advantage line with every carry.

6. Deon Fourie

Another player you just can’t keep quiet.

5. Martin Muller

He is becoming a very dependable player in the Griquas second row.

4. Ligtoring Landman

With players like him and other young locks popping up in the Currie Cup, I really don’t think calling on Bakkies Botha was needed.

3. Lourens Adriaanse

He is strong in the scrums and does not shy away from work.

2. Ryno Barnes

He’s a hard man and always puts everything into his performance.

1. JC Janse van Rensburg

Must be one of the most consistent performance of this Currie Cup.

  • Landman is steadily making a name for himself, when he was at the Leopards he was only known because if his kickass knickname but now is putting in great perfomances week after week

  • Thought Elton player a great game, Blommetjies for the Bulls, thought the Sharks were not to bad and could have won the game… If that last try was awarded, we would have had some Sharkies on this list? We all beter start excepting that Griekwas have turned the tide on their narrow losses. They would have beat any team the way they played the last 2 weeks! Very determined.
