The last really big rugby weekend kicks off with another Friday night match, this time hosted in Pretoria, where the Bulls take on Western Province, a match that can either allow the Bulls a chance to qualify for the play-offs, or completely rule that out.
The Bulls will look forward to getting a few Springboks back next weekend, where they are slowly running out of loose forwards to play, dipping as deep as Jean Cook starting in the 7 jersey. They do however have Bjorn Basson back on the wing, and he can turn a game on its head all on his own, so do not write off the Bulls just yet.
WP come off a good over Griquas at Newlands, and will hope for a good performance on the night to get them back in the reckoning for a home play-off. Results tomorrow in both games could leave them in with a shot.
Blue Bulls: 15 Jürgen Visser, 14 Akona Ndungane, 13 JJ Engelbrecht, 12 Francois Venter, 11 Bjorn Basson, 10 Louis Fouchè, 9 Jano Vermaak, 8 CJ Stander, 7 Jean Cook, 6 Dewald Potgieter (captain), 5 Franco Mostert, 4 Wilhelm Steenkamp, 3 Werner Kruger, 2 Willie Wepener, 1 Mornè Mellett/Dean Greyling.
Replacements: 16 Chiliboy Ralepelle, 17 Frik Kirsten, 18 Grant Hattingh, 19 Warwick Tecklenburg, 20 Ruan Snyman, 21 Lionel Cronjè, 22 Ulrich Beyers.
Western Province: 15 Joe Pietersen, 14 Gerhard van den Heever, 13 JP du Plessis, 12 Marcel Brache, 11 Damian de Allende, 10 Demetri Catrakilis, 9 Nic Groom, 8 Jebb Sinclair, 7 Tyrone Holmes, 6 Deon Fourie (captain), 5 De Kock Steenkamp, 4 Don Armand, 3 Frans Malherbe, 2 Siyabonga Ntubeni, 1 Steven Kitshoff.
Replacements: 16 Deon Carstens, 17 Brok Harris, 18 Wilhelm van der Sluys, 19 Helmut Lehmann, 20 JJ Gagiano, 21 Louis Schreuder, 22 Pat Howard.

If bulls lose this game next week could be their last in currie cup until 2013.
I doubt the Bulls would loose to the Kings
TMO continues to ruin good rugby
Then again – he’s wearing a province golf shirt again
Bulls Leading 6-0 if anyone cares
@byron (Comment 5) : I care 🙂 keep me posted.

@Mutley (Comment 7) : That’s good 🙂
Bulls 20-6
20-11

final score 26 -13
FULLTIME
Bulls 26 – 13 WP
I had Bulls by 12
Damnit.
@klempie (Comment 15) : It does take some pressure off us 😈
wasn’t a great game by province … Bulls very conservative too. No effort to push for a bonus point.
@byron (Comment 17) : Right now a win is a bonus 😉
@JarsonX (Comment 16) : Well, not really. Now we have to make sure we get the tricky balance of losing to Cheetahs while getting a bonus point right…and hope the Kwasse beat the Lions.
Bulls for once did the sharks a favor
@klempie (Comment 19) : Why would we lose to the Cheetahs?
@JarsonX (Comment 21) : Because they need to jump ahead of the Bulls.
@klempie (Comment 22) : Ok then. Well I’ll be hoping for a Griquas win and a Sharks win. I’m not going to bet against Black just yet.
@JarsonX (Comment 23) : I just want to see a Kings/Bulls relegation match. 🙂
Don’t worry lions will beat them next week. Go Sharks!!!
The rationale behind a promo-relegation between the Bulls and Kings fail me. By then the Bulls will be at full strength to beat the Kings…
@klempie (Comment 24) : I’d like to see that as well, but the chances of the Kings winning that one is zulch. 😈
Hasn’t every week thus far produced only one away game winner?
So by 17:00 we’ll be able to foresee whether the Sharks will be this week’s away winner. 🙂
And this result confirms one semi in Jhb and all but confirms the other will be in Durban
