Another old Bull for Toulon

Toulon’s crazy president, Mourad Boudjellal, seems to be playing a crazy game of “collect and keep” and seemingly won’t rest until he’d had the entire Bulls “class of 2007” in his clutches at one time or another!

Yesterday’s announcement that lock-cum-flank Danie Rossouw will head over to Toulon on completion of his commitments with Suntory in Japan means that Boudjellal has finally completed his second-row set (Victor Matfield having played there in 2008) and will additionally earn a special combo bonus for being able to include Rossouw and Bakkies Botha in the same match 15.

I wonder how big the cheque currently being waved in front of Fourie du Preez is…

  • Very good buy by Toulon. The thought of Simon Shaw, Rossouw and Bakkies in the same team is awesome!! Joe van Niekerk has also added a hard edge to his game and would have been a useful option for Heyneke at 8. Maybe even as captain. He’s definitely played the best rugby of his career outside the Bok setup.

  • 1 of my favourite players of all time, how he stayed loyal to the Bulls when he could’ve been starting for any other union is beyond me, that is the true definition of loyalty.

Was the greatest pleasure to watch him run on for his 50th cap last year or 2010 for Boks. Didn’t Rob do an article on it?

  • I forgot ol Danie was almost a bit part player at the Bulls, shifted all over the place or just chilling on the bench. He used to have a big problem looking after the ball in contact a while ago but once he got over that he was immense.

  • @Clayton(PJLD) (Comment 6) : ya he had his mandatory 3 knock ons a game, apart from that, he was superb
