Patrick Lambie has been included at flyhalf in the Sharks team to take on the Griquas at Kings Park on Friday night at 19:00. Lambie is the only one of the returning Bok players to be including in the starting line-up, with four others in Craig Burden, Marcell Coetzee, Jannie du Plessis and Lwazi Mvovo bound to make their impact of the bench. Willem Alberts and Beast Mtawarira earn a well deserved rest after a taxing year of rugby.

Lambie joins up with Cobus Reinach, in a very exciting but raw partnership. Reinach makes his return to the starting line-up and Kyle Cooper comes into the hooker position for Pieter Dixon in the only other change to the starting line-up.

Plumtree has decided to go with continuity and reward the team that has managed to get themselves into a position of playing for a home semi-final and final spot.

  • I’m happy that we resisted the urge to throw all of the Boks straight into the starting line-up. Let these poor guys rest a bit.

Showing faith in the guys who have taken us to the top of the log and definitely kept us in the semis and definitely given us a home-semi (regardless of the result this weekend) should be applauded. Hopefully they’ll be able to take us even further and guarantee that home final.

  • @KingRiaan (Comment 6) : I’m not sure King Louis would’ve worked with someone who HM only wanted to give an average of 4 minutes a match. Rather stuff up the regular guys.

  • Great team though, but if he is going to complain about players not getting game time, and then not give them a start does not make sense.

  • @Butchie34 (Comment 16) : Hi Butchie, I realize what he is doing, and it is not that I disagree, but when he makes a big point of the fact that they have not had any rugby in so long with the Boks, and how it is a disservice to them, and then to play them off the bench does not make sense. Either he was wrong then, or he is wrong now, but either way, he has contradicted himself.

Plus as mentioned that (although Plum did not say it), their little time was because of teh guys who were not performing all that great. hehe

  • Can not wait to see the Lambie/Whitehead/Jordaan partnership in action!

You just never know who’s gonna hit the gap, with Lambie’s pin-point passing, and Whitehead’s ability to squeeze a pass through a key hole, Jordaan will need the wings and Ludik to be with him every time he hits the gap.

Hope Lambie finds his feet early in the game.

I hope for Lambie’s sake he fires, otherwise he might find himself on the bench in the semi.

  • Could Lambie’s selection at FH mean that he’s going all out at being a fh, surely between Pienaar and Steyn he received plenty of solid advice regarding this.

I saw Pienaar commenting on SS website that Lambie must pick a position and stick with it.

  • @Dancing Bear (Comment 25) : Plum’s argument was about not releasing players not in the match 22 before the final game.

At least Burden and Mvovo should get some time in the second half. This is still an important match (unless the Bulls take out the Lions) and both will be rusty from carrying tackle bags.

Isn`t he our top point scorer in the competition?
Didn`t we all agree that he`s been in his best shape ever since joining the Sharks?

I agree with you. Bosman was the playmaker and the top scorer in the curriecup. He played the whole curriecup. I think he deserve to play nr 12. I really don’t think Tim is better than Meyer if his on this form. Bosman let the whole backline play, and its not the same with the Tim. He may have more speed.

  • @Dancing Bear (Comment 15) : Maybe because the disruption will be to big if he adds to many players to the team. Phase them in slowly and give them enough game time this week to be freshened up and ready for next week.
