Sharksworld’s Currie Cup Team of the week is brought to you by LaLuxe B&B

Relax in the Luxury of LaLuxe.

Only one week to go. Griquas kept themselves in the running for a semi final spot with their win against the Lions. And the bottom of the log got even more congested with the loss of the Cheetahs and the Bulls taking victory from WP.

Griquas rule the numbers again this week with 5, the Sharks just behind them with 4, the losing Cheetahs team managed 3, the Bulls with 2 and the Lions 1.

15. Willie le Roux

He continues to impress with his attacking style of play. Will it impress the EOYT selectors?

14. Odwa Ndugane

Whoever said a wing can’t be great at 31. Odwa has been in excellent form all season.

13. Paul Jordaan

The question is will the 20 year old be getting regular game time now that he has to compete with 3 centres and 3 wings for 2 spots?

12. Francois Venter

With so many young centres going in and out of the Bulls team recently, you have to commend the young man for forcing a regular starting spot in this team.

11. Raymond Rhule

He makes defenses looks weak when he goes on one of his runs. I love watching him play and would love to see him get a shot in the Bok team.

10. Francois Brummer

He’s a quality flyhalf and still just 23. Hopefully he’ll get some Super Rugby game time in 2014. It’s the best way to measure a player’s potential.

9. Sarel Pretorius

The thing you have to love about Sarel (except if you’re playing against him), is that he is always dangerous.

8. Leon Karemaker

When you back row is playing like the Griquas did against the Lions, with Karemaker leading the onslaught, it’s hard not to win.

7. Justin Downey

Inconsistency and outstanding performances from other loose forwards has seen him lose his starting spot, but with a starting spot opening up Downey gave it his all last week.

6. Dewaldt Potgieter

He doesn’t play like a  traditional open side flanker, but with a workrate like that, it doesn’t really matter.

5. Anton Bresler

He’s growing in stature with every game he plays.

4. Micheal Rhodes

At 25 you really would want to see a man of his talent and potential forge his way into a more prominent position in any team. Injuries has been an issue of late, but at some point you’d want to see more consistency from the former Sharks player.

3. Lourens Adriaanse

He outplayed his brother and possibly the strongest scrum in the competition.

2. Kyle Cooper

Came on for Dixon early in the game and showed why everyone has been itching to see him back in the Black and White. Hopefully he’ll still get some game time with the return of the Boks.

1. Marcel van der Merwe

I’ll say it again, what great potential at 21.

  • My favourite moment of this weekends games wast when Odwa stepped around Rhule for his 1st try. At that point I was so fed up with the commentator’s Rhule this and Rhule that and then BAM! The old man steps around the super Rhule 😈

  • @JarsonX (Comment 1) : I totally agree! Those two commentators with their Rhule mancrush was seriously grating my cheese! 🙂

The guy’s good, I’ll give him that and he has an awesome future ahead of him, but a long way to go still.

  • @JarsonX (Comment 1) : Hahaha. The old man with no gas. What he doesn’t have in speed anymore he has in technique and street smarts.
