Griquas coach Pote Human has been able to name a mostly unchanged side for tomorrow night’s Currie Cup clash against the Sharks, with just a single injury-enforced switch seeing Walter Venter replace JP Nel at inside centre.

Nel suffered his second serious finger injury of the campaign during Griquas’ shock win against the Lions on Saturday and drops out of the 22 this week, with the former Lions stalwart coming in to partner Jean Stemmet in midfield.

The only other change to the 22 sees fit-again loose forward Wes Wilkins included on the bench, in place of Jaco Nepgen.

Griquas need a win at Kings Park to be assured of a place in the semi-finals, but may still hang on to fourth place if they pick up a losing bonus point or two and both the Bulls and Cheetahs lose.

Griquas: 15 Willie le Roux, 14 Jannie Boshoff, 13 Jean Stemmet, 12 Walter Venter, 11 Rocco Jansen, 10 Francois Brummer, 9 Marnus Hugo, 8 Leon Karemaker, 7 Justin Downey, 6 Marnus Schoeman, 5 Martin Muller, 4 Rynard Landman, 3 Lourens Adriaanse, 2 Ryno Barnes (captain), 1 Steph Roberts.
Replacements: 16 Matthew Dobson, 17 Ivann Espag, 18 Edwin Hewitt, 19 Wesley Wilkins, 20 Jacques Coetzee, 21 Marnitz Boshoff, 22 Richard Lawson.

  • Nel’s finger probably got injured after he showed a FJELN sign to the ref for receiving his 100th yellow card. 😈
