Western Province have been struck a blow ahead of their semi-final clash against the Lions this weekend, with news filtering through that two stalwarts will be missing the clash.
Both Tiaan Liebenberg and Andries Bekker will sit out this week’s action with back and foot injuries respectively. Both players have been referred to specialists, but it is expected that should Western Province advance to the final next weekend, both players should be fit to play.
In more news, and rather bizarre as well, Bolla Conradie has been spotted at training, as backup to the two scrumhalves currently rotating for WP, Nic Groom and Louis Schreuder. Allister Coetzee indicated that they felt it unnecessary to disrupt the U21 team and that Bolla had indicated that he was available to train with the team.

😐 not good for the Weepee
i am putting my money on the lions
Both teams are not firing at the moment. Actually a lottery who will win. Who is at 10 for the Lions?
This game is really a 50/50 game…very difficult to predict; but think province will just edge it. Not having a proper/settled centre combo could cost the lions.
@Amateur (Comment 3) : I think it has to be Elton?
That said, how to use Butch? He looked great at 10 and bloody awful at 12. It has to be Hollenbach there.
Actually, the Mapoe injury might play into the Lions hands, because now they can’t be tempted to play Taute at 12.
That’s good news, well for me but not for the WP.
Bolla ? 😯
@robdylan (Comment 5) : I think they will probably go with Butch at 12. Pity as he has been good at 10 and I think knock out games are where he thrives. They have to have Jantjies on the field though so he will be 10. WP have a big problem at 10, especially in a knock out game. No-one to dictate play. Cant wait for Lambie vs Steyn though. Any talk re Goosen next year? Is he a Cheetah no matter what? Just asking. 😉
@Amateur (Comment 8) : there are persistent rumours about him joining you lot. Will have to see if that comes off.
Which lot is that?????
@Amateur (Comment 10) : Bulls
Proooooblems will be gargling their own blood from minute 60 of the game because of that brown cloud over Dzou-burg aka pollution.
Remember last year the Lions were also off the boil in their last game before the Semi’s? Same as the Sharks in 2010 because of players being rested.
Don’t be fooled into thinking the Lions from past Saturday will be the Lions playing WP this weekend, it’s a false sense of security.
Lions will take it…..Gauteng just ain’t kind to the lungs of us coastal guys.
Bolla is a legend.
That is all… 😎
@robdylan (Comment 11) : Oh well. Believe what you want.
What why bolla, could they not get january?? Hahahaha really scraping bottom of the barrel.
JD
He won’t play dude. 🙄
WP are missing Duvenage so its not like Bolla was in the mix as he’s been playing for Boland the past 18 months.
If Groom or Schreuder is injured only then will he be selected on the bench.
It sure as hell won’t make sense to call up our U21 scrummie who also happens to be captain of the side.
I can see the funny side considering Bolla is 34 years old now (almost 35).
But it’s not like he’d go out there and make a fool of himself.
He did a fair job in his day. No Fourie du Preez (but then who is), and for a long time probably shouldn’t have been keeping Neil de Kock out of the team, but let’s not pretend he was a disaster.
Welcome back Bolla!!!
