Still battling with fitness concerns to key players, Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske looks set to include a number of under 21 players in his squad for Friday’s second-leg promotion/relegation game against the EP Kings – and may even be forced to play Tewis de Bruyn at flyhalf.

According to Beeld’s Jóhann Thormählen, flyhalf Sias Ebersohn (concussion) and centre Andries Struass (shoulder) are in doubt for the game, while loose forward Pieter Labuschagne has already been ruled out. Strauss, who ironically is on his way to join the Kings ahead of next season, may have picked up a serious shoulder injury last weekend and will need to see a specialist this week. He will be replaced by Philip Snyman in the starting lineup for Friday’s clash if he is indeed ruled out, with de Bruyn the likely option to replace Ebersohn.

Under 21 players Pieter-Steyn de Wet (flyhalf) and Neill Jordaan (eighthman) have been called up and may travel with the squad as replacements for Friday night’s game.

  • They should let their u21s loose on the kings. Should be more than enough.

  • Pieter-Steyn de Wet has seriously impressed me as the u21 flyhalf, he’s a promising young lad
